Ian Damon
Ian Damon (born Ian Davidson 5 June 1935) is a British radio personality. Born in Sydney, Australia and after 8 years as a broadcaster on New South Wales stations 2RG and 2LF, Damon decided to tour Europe and Canada settling in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire in the UK during which time, he presented a regular show on Radio Stortford (Bishop's Stortford Hospital Radio), a volunteer-run organisation broadcasting via GPO landline to the Herts and Essex Hospital, Rye Street Hospital and Elmhurst Care Home, all in Bishop's Stortford and for a while, the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex. He joined the offshore Radio London/Big L on the MV Galaxy replacing Tony Blackburn in 1967; and was given the name of 'Wombat' by Tony Brandon. On its demise, Damon freelanced and was engaged as a continuity announcer by ATV London and ABC Manchester. He also contributed to BBC Radio 2's 'Roundabout' programme. Radio Mercury
Mercury FM was a radio station in the Surrey and Sussex area of the United Kingdom that was founded on 20 October 1984 and closed on 25 July 2010. The station broadcast on FM broadcasting, FM 97.5 MHz in Horsham and 102.7 MHz in East Surrey and North Sussex and later merged with Heart Sussex to form Heart Sussex and Surrey. History Radio Mercury was founded by John Aumonier and began airing on 20 October 1984, on 103.6 FM and 1521 AM focusing on Crawley but serving much of East Surrey and North Sussex. Two years later, the FM frequency changed to 102.7 as part of the UK-wide re-organisation of the VHF/FM band. 1985 saw a relay of the station added for the town of Horsham on 97.5. In 1991 the station took over most of County Sound Radio (1566 AM), County Sound Radio in Guildford to form the Allied Radio plc. Piracy is an act of robbery or criminal violence by ship or boat-borne attackers upon another ship or a coastal area, typically with the goal of stealing cargo and other valuable goods. Big L was the name of a short-lived broadcasting company registered by the British licensing authority Ofcom fro11 June 2002 to 10 June 2003for a satellite radio service known as Big L. The license stated that the station ''"… will provide an eclectic mix of rock and pop, both modern and classic. News and weather will be broadcast hourly. The service will be in English language and will be free to air."'' The station was owned by Big L Limited. Though the station targeted audience in the United Kingdom, advertisers developed their commercials mainly to reach English speakers in the Netherlands. County Sound Radio (1566 AM)
County Sound Radio was an analogue commercial radio station covering Surrey and north-east Hampshire in the United Kingdom. One of its closing forms in 2012-2014 formed Eagle Extra occupying 1566 MW following an internal split between older and newer music/features into two allied stations in 1988 and an incomplete takeover by Mercury FM then sale leaving a third station, that of Mercury, with enhanced coverage of this area and its successor Heart Sussex and Surrey. The post-1988 branch of the radio which was rooted in recent music, concerts and events in the area including for a younger audience alternated between three FM frequencies (96.6, 96.4 and 91.5); in 1996 it relaunched as 96.4 Eagle Radio. Delta FM was a United Kingdom local radio station, broadcasting to East Hampshire, South West Surrey and North West Sussex. The station provided local news, community information, and specialist music programming to the towns of Alton, Hampshire, Alton, Bordon, Four Marks, Haslemere, Hindhead, Liphook, Midhurst and Petersfield. KMFM West Kent
KMFM West Kent is an Independent Local Radio serving the towns of Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Royal Tunbridge Wells plus the surrounding areas of the South East of England. It is the West Kent region of the KMFM radio network (owned by the KM Group), containing local advertisements and sponsorships for the area amongst a countywide schedule of programming. History KMFM West Kent launched on 8 July 1995 as KFM, broadcasting on 96.2 and 101.6 FM and owned by Kent and Sussex Radio.
