Delta FM
Delta FM was an Independent Local Radio station, broadcasting to East Hampshire, South West Surrey and North West Sussex. The station provided local news, community information, and specialist music programming to the towns of Alton, Bordon, Four Marks, Haslemere, Hindhead, Liphook, Midhurst and Petersfield. Background The original Delta Radio first broadcast in January 1990. It was the brainchild of County Sound CEO, Mike Powell who successfully lobbied the Independent Broadcasting Authority for permission to put separate programming for the Haslemere district on what was originally intended to be a relay transmitter for Guildford's County Sound. The station was launched by County Sound's Terry Mann, formerly Programme Director of Radio 210, Reading. After County Sound merged with Radio Mercury to form Allied Radio, Delta Radio was closed down by its new owners in 1992 and the transmitter went back to being a relay. UKRD Group
The UKRD Group Ltd was a British media company that owned 15 commercial radio stations in the United Kingdom. The name originates from UK Radio Developments. Since its acquisition in March 2019, it has been run as a subsidiary of Bauer Radio. History Formed on 22 August 1990 as a company to invest in commercial stations following the relaxation of station ownership laws, its first investment was a stake in Cornwall's Pirate FM 102, which was designed and launched by former County Sound boss Mike Powell (UK radio entrepreneur), Mike Powell who, after leaving County Sound, had formed Infinity Radio. Shortly after the launch, Infinity Radio merged with UK Radio Developments and Powell became CEO of the embryonic UKRD Group. Farnham
Farnham is a market town and civil parish in Surrey, England, around southwest of London. It is in the Borough of Waverley, close to the county border with Hampshire. The town is on the north branch of the River Wey, a tributary of the Thames, and is at the western end of the North Downs. The civil parish, which includes the villages of Badshot Lea, Hale and Wrecclesham, covers and had a population of 39,488 in 2011. Among the prehistoric objects from the area is a woolly mammoth tusk, excavated in Badshot Lea at the start of the 21st century. Holybourne
Holybourne is a village in the civil parish of Alton, in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is 1.3 miles (2.2 km) northeast of the centre of Alton, is contiguous with it and shares its A31 bypass. The nearest railway station also being in Alton. The village has a population of around 1,500 and is where Treloar School is located. Holybourne has a pub – ''The White Hart'' – and a small store. History Holybourne is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as ''Haliborne'' and appears in 1418 as ''Halybourn''. The name is thought to be derived from the Old English ''Haligburna'' which means ''sacred stream'', referring to the small stream whose spring is near Holybourne Church whence it runs through the village. Medstead is a village and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Alton, Hampshire, Alton, which lies northeast of the village. According to the 2011 census, the village had a population of 2,036 people. The parish covers an area of and has an average elevation of approximately above sea level. One of the county's high points at , King's Hill, Hampshire, King's Hill, runs through Medstead and Bentworth. The village church was first mentioned as a chapel in the Domesday Survey of 1086 and was soon replaced by a Norman church.
