Ian Cockerill
Ian David Cockerill (born 4 August 1954 in Romford, England) is a geologist and mining engineer. Cockerill started his mining career in South Africa in 1975 after completing his Bachelor of Science in Geology at Chelsea College of Science and Technology. He later completed his Master of Science in Mining-Mineral Production Management at the Royal School of Mines, a Management Development Programme at the University of South Africa, and an Advanced Management Programme at Templeton College, Oxford. Business career In 1975, Cockerill began work in Welkom South Africa at the Union Corporation. His career with the Anglo American plc Group began in 1979 when he joined De Beers as technical assistant at Kleinzee diamond operations in Port Nolloth. Romford
Romford is a large town in east London and the administrative centre of the London Borough of Havering. It is located northeast of Charing Cross and is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. Harmony Gold is the first largest gold mining company in South Africa. Harmony operates in South Africa and in Papua New Guinea. Tendele Coal
The Tendele Coal is a coal mining operation in South Africa principally known for its Somkhele Coal Mine in KwaZulu-Natal province. The open cast coal mine was first opened in 2007, and largely produces metallurgical coal that is exported out of Richards Bay. Tendele is largely owned by Petmin, which in turn is owned by Capital Works Private Equity after delisting from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 2017. Minorco
The Minorco SA (Minerals and Resources Company) was a mining company based in Luxembourg. It was set up by the South African Anglo American Corporation in 1987 to hold its non-African, non-diamond mining operations. Although Minorco was quoted on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange the majority of its shares were controlled by the Oppenheimer family directly and indirectly via Anglo American Corporation and its then sister company De Beers.
