"I Need You" is a song by Depeche Mode vocalist Dave Gahan from his debut studio album, '' Paper Monsters'' (2003). It was released on 18 August 2003 as the album's second single, reaching number 27 in the UK Singles Chart. The single was completely remixed by Alan Moulder for single release, with new vocals and a new musical structure, being quicker and cleaner than the album version. Alan Moulder
Alan Moulder (born 11 June 1959) is an English record producer, mixing engineer, and audio engineer. Early life Moulder was born on 11 June 1959 in Boston, Lincolnshire. He was educated at Boston Grammar School. He had an interest in music from an early age, listing Cream and The Beatles among his favourite artists. The first album he bought was ''Electric Warrior'' by T. Rex, and he was impressed by the quality of the recording. He joined his first band as a teenager and recorded a demo in a local studio; it was there that he realised that it had been the production that he had so enjoyed on ''Electric Warrior'', and discovered that he was more interested in music engineering than performing. Gabriel & Dresden is an American electronic music duo comprising Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden, formed in San Francisco, California. They collaborated from 2001 to 2008, then again from 2011 to the present. During that time, they have created numerous hit songs and remixes, some of which are considered classics. ''Paper Monsters'' is the debut solo studio album by English singer Dave Gahan. It was released on 2 June 2003 in the United Kingdom by Mute Records and the following day in North America by Reprise Records. Background and release The album was produced by Ken Thomas, known for his work with Icelandic band Sigur Rós. Upon its debut, critical reception was generally mixed; while many complimented the album's personal subject matter, others described it as lacking depth.
