I Love You (EP)
''I Love You'' is the tenth EP by Said the Whale. It was produced by Tom Dobrzanski and was released on June 4, 2013, by Hidden Pony Records. "I Love You", the first single from the EP, peaked at No. 3 on the Mediabase Alternative Rock chart. Critical reception The album is described by ''The Owl Mag'' as being "centered on the joys and tribulations of family" while ''Now'' mgazine portrays the album as "flirty but so G-rated that even the best lyrics are dulled by all the saccharine sweetness". Said the Ale beer Concurrent with the release of the EP, Townsite Brewing in Powell River, British Columbia, released a beer named after the band called Said the Ale. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Tom Dobrzanski
Tom Dobrzanski is a Canadian record producer, engineer, mixer and musician. He is based in Vancouver, BC. He is a former member of the rock band The Zolas, and is the owner of Monarch Studios. He began his recording career in 2001 with Vertical Studios, which he built in his parents' basement. He has recorded albums for local bands such as Said the Whale, Hey Ocean!, We Are the City and more. In October 2012 he officially opened Monarch Studios. Dobrzanski has been nominated for multiple Western Canadian Music Awards including Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year. Powell River, British Columbia
Powell River is a city on the northern Sunshine Coast of southwestern British Columbia, Canada. Most of its population lives near the eastern shores of Malaspina Strait, which is part of the larger Georgia Strait between Vancouver Island and the Mainland. Hula Skirt
A grass skirt is a costume and garment made with layers of plant fibres such as grasses and leaves that is fastened at the waistline. Pacific Grass skirts were introduced to Hawaii by immigrants from the Gilbert Islands around the 1870s to 1880s although their origins are attributed to Samoa as well. According to DeSoto Brown, a historian at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu, it is likely Hawaiian dancers began wearing them during their performances on the vaudeville circuit of the United States mainland. Traditional Hawaiian skirts were often made with fresh ti leaves, which were not available in the United States. By the turn of the century, Hawaiian dancers in both Hawaii and the US were wearing grass skirts. Some Hawaiian-style hula dancers still wear them.
