Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition
The Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition was founded in 2002 by Alexander Braginsky in collaboration with the Yamaha Corporation. It took place every two years in Minneapolis–Saint Paul before the 2008 edition was delayed to 2009 due to the arrangement of a junior edition of the competition. The ''-e-'' refers to the competition's focus on Internet and Disklavier technologies. The e-competition is one of the biggest, most significant competitions available for young artists. Many of its past competitors have gone on to achieve significant success on the global competition/concert stage. Charlie Albright
Charlie Albright ( ko, 찰리 박 올브라이트) is an American pianist, composer, and improviser. He is an official Steinway Artist, 2014 Avery Fisher Career Grant Recipient, 2010 Gilmore Young Artist (2010) and former Young Concert Artist. He graduated from Harvard College (AB) and the New England Conservatory (MM) as the first classical pianist in the schools' five-year AB/MM Joint Program, was named the Leverett House Artist in Residence for 2011–2012, and was one of the 15 Most Interesting Seniors of the Harvard College Class of 2011. He graduated from the Juilliard School of Music with his post-graduate Artist Diploma (AD) in 2014. Albright is a frequent collaborator with Yo-Yo Ma. Piano Competitions In The United States
The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). It is played using a keyboard, which is a row of keys (small levers) that the performer presses down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the hammers to strike the strings. Martha Argerich
Martha Argerich (; Eastern Catalan: ɾʒəˈɾik born 5 June 1941) is an Argentine classical concert pianist. She is widely considered to be one of the greatest pianists of all time. Early life and education Argerich was born in Buenos Aires. Her paternal ancestors were Spaniards from Catalonia who had been based in Buenos Aires since the 18th century. Her maternal grandparents were Jewish immigrants from the Russian Empire, who settled in Colonia Villa Clara in Argentina's Entre Ríos Province, one of the colonies established by Baron de Hirsch and the Jewish Colonization Association. Orchestra Hall (Minneapolis)
Orchestra Hall is a concert hall that is located on 11th Street at Peavey Plaza in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The home of the Minnesota Orchestra, it is a major landmark of the southern portion of Nicollet Mall and hosts many events throughout the year, in addition to being the Orchestra's home. The auditorium seats 2,089, of which about 1,200 are accommodated on the main floor. The remaining seats are placed in three balconies above and along the sides of the main floor. The auditorium is actually a second building separated for acoustical reasons by a one-inch gap from the "shell" which contains the lobby and various administrative offices. The stage contains an unusual feature: a large cube motif in the rear stage wall which continues along the ceiling towards the rear of the auditorium. Konstantin Soukhovetski
Konstantin Alekseyevich Soukhovetski (born January 19, 1981) was born into a family of artists, and began playing the piano at the age of four. He studied at the Moscow Central School under the auspices of the Moscow Conservatory, where his special subjects also included composition and acting. He then studied at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, gaining his bachelor's degree in 2003 with the Anton Rubinstein Prize as an outstanding pianist. He received his Master's degree from Juilliard in 2005 with the support of The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans, and is in the Artist's diploma program at Juilliard, studying with Jerome Lowenthal. He was named winner of the William Petschek Piano Debut Recital Award for 2006. His NYC debut recital was on April 20, 2006 at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. Eduard Kunz (russian: Эдуард Кунц), (born October 30, 1980 in Omsk, Soviet Union) is a Russian pianist. He reached the 2nd round in the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011. Biography Eduard was born in Siberia from an assimilated minority German ethnic in Russia. He studied with Michail Khokhlov at the Gnessin Special school for gifted children and with Andrei Diev at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Vyacheslav Gryaznov
Vyacheslav Gryaznov (russian: Вячеслав Грязнов; born 15 January 1982) is a Russian classical pianist, recording artist, transcriber, composer, and assistant professor of piano. In 2006, he studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Yuri Slesarev and post-graduate studies in 2009. Since 2008, he has held the position of teaching assistant in the Piano Department of the Moscow Conservatory. Beginning with the 2008/2009 concert season, V. Gryaznov has belonged to the Moscow Philharmonic Society which represents him in Russia. Since 2012, he has worked as a visiting professor of piano at Kurashiki Sakuyo University of Science and Arts in Japan. Ayşedeniz Gökçin
Ayşedeniz Gökçin (born January 4, 1988; anglicised as "AyseDeniz Gokcin") is a Turkish classical pianist and composer. After graduating in 2009 with a bachelor's degree from Eastman School of Music, Gökçin completed a master's degree at the Royal Academy of Music in 2011. She is known for recording an EP of her arrangements for solo piano of the music of the rock band Pink Floyd in the style of Franz Liszt, ''Pink Floyd Lisztified''. The EP comprises three tracks, which, she says, form a fantasia. Elmar Gasanov (born 1983 in Sevastopol) is a Ukrainian pianist trained at the Moscow Conservatory representing Russia at international competitions. He later undertook postgraduate studies at London's Royal College of Music, as a student of Professor Vanessa Latarche. Gasanov graduated with the Master of Music degree with Distinction.
