ICL 20-20 Indian Championship 2008–09
The ICL 20-20 Indian Championship 2008/09 was the second tournament of the second ICL season, it was also the second 20-20 Indian Championship. The tournament commenced on 10 October 2008, with the final match to be held on 16 November 2008. Both the opening and closing fixtures were played in Hyderabad, India. The league consisted of nine teams. Each team playing each other once. 2008/09 season The 2008/09 season saw the introduction of a new team, the Dhaka Warriors. The season opener consisted of this calendar year's Edelweiss 20s Challenge finalists the Lahore Badshahs and the Hyderabad Heroes. Each winning teams gets 2,500,000 Rupees; while each Man of the match receives 200,000 Rupees, a trophy and an electric motobike. Indian Cricket League
The Indian Cricket League (ICL) was a private cricket league funded by Zee Entertainment Enterprises that operated between 2007 and 2009 in India. Its two seasons included tournaments between four international teams (World XI, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) and separate tournaments between nine domestic teams notionally located in major Indian cities as well as Lahore, Pakistan and Dhaka, Bangladesh. The matches were played in the Twenty20 format, and was the first domestic Twenty20 league in India. There was also a planned domestic 50-over tournament, but this did not happen. The ICL lacked the support of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and International Cricket Council, which placed it at a major disadvantage when compared to other cricket competitions. In 2008 the Board of Control for Cricket in India launched the their own Indian Premier League. ICL was an unsanctioned league. Lahore Badshahs
Lahore Badshahs ( ur, ) was one of the nine teams that competed in the 2008 and 2008/09 competition of the defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL). The captain was former Pakistani captain and batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq. The team made its ICL debut on 11 March 2008 in a match against the winners of the previous version, the Chennai Superstars. Sarabjit Singh
Sarabjit Singh Attwal (also spelled Sarabjeet Singh; 1963 or 1964 – 2 May 2013) (alleged to be Manjit Singh Rattu by Pakistan) was an Indian national convicted of terrorism and spying by a Pakistani court. He was tried and convicted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan for a series of bomb attacks in Lahore and Faisalabad that killed 14 bystanders in 1990. However, according to India, Sarabjit was a farmer who strayed into Pakistan from his village located on the border, three months after the bombings. After a brief trial in the Lahore High Court (later directed to the Supreme Court), he was condemned and sentenced to death in 1991, but the sentence was repeatedly postponed by the Government of Pakistan. Hamish John Hamilton Marshall (born 15 February 1979) is a former New Zealand cricketer, who played all formats of the game for New Zealand. He is the identical twin brother of James Marshall. Paul Andrew Nixon (born 21 October 1970) is an English cricket coach and former professional cricketer who played for Leicestershire, England, England A, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Kent.
