Arthur Humberstone
Arthur Roland Humberstone (17 April 1912 – 31 December 1999) was a British animator, artist and director, whose credits included ''Animal Farm'', '' Yellow Submarine'' and ''The BFG.'' In 1946, Arthur was one of the trainee animators enlisted at J Arthur Rank's new studio being set up at Moor Hall, Cookham by ex-Disney Director David Hand. He worked with Halas & Batchelor and as a senior animator with Martin Rosen on ''Watership Down'' and ''The Plague Dogs.'' Arthur Humberstone's influence on the film ''Watership Down'' is discussed in the chapter "Revisiting the production of ''Watership Down'' through the Arthur Humberstone Animation Archive" in the booWatership Down: Perspectives On and Beyond Animated Violence'. Chris Humberstone
Chris Humberstone was an English car designer born in 1946. His first company was Scorpion Car Company of Dorking and then Chris Humberstone Design. Humberstone died in January 1999. Scorpion Car Company 616M, 616MS and 620M Humberstone's first car design as a 19 year old was the 1965 Scorpion Sovereign. There were three models made. The 1600cc engined 616M and 616MS, and the 2 litre powered 620M. The car had a Triumph Vitesse drivetrain and a Williams & Pritchard body. Humberstone was approached by Tom Gratrix of Bond cars and later found out the Gratix had used designer Trevor Fiore to restyle the Scorpion by making it into a fastback. Bond then produced it as the Bond Equipe 2 litre without Humberstone's consent. This resulted in Humberstone successfully suing Bond. Holly Ffion Humberstone (born 17 December 1999) is an English singer-songwriter from Grantham, England. In 2021, she signed a recording contract with Interscope and Polydor Records. Her first EP following the signings, ''The Walls Are Way Too Thin'', was released on 12 November 2021. Humberstone won the Brit Award for Rising Star at the 2022 Brit Awards. Early life Humberstone is from Grantham and is one of four sisters. Both her parents are medics. She studied at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Humberstone started writing songs at a young age. James Thomas Humberstone (8 July 1850 – 12 June 1939) was an English chemical engineer. In 1872, he founded the Peru Nitrate Company to extract saltpetre in the Tarapacá Province of Peru (now part of the Tarapacá Region of Chile). He introduced the Shanks System and other innovations to the industry. Simon Humberstone, born 31 July 1987 is a rugby union player, currently at Hull playing in National League 2 North, having previously played for Doncaster Knights in the RFU Championship, Pontypridd in the Principality Premiership and the Cardiff Blues regional team. William Humberstone
William Humberstone (October 20, 1836 – April 2, 1922) was a Canadian businessman and politician. He was a municipal councillor in Edmonton, Alberta. Biography Humberstone was born in Niagara Region, Ontario in 1836. He moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in the 1870s, and in July 1880 left for Edmonton on foot with an ox and a Red River cart. He arrived three months later. Soon after his arrival in Edmonton, he started a coal mine on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River (near today's Chinatown) and a brickyard in Riverdale, under the name Humberstone Brick & Coal Company. He also went into partnership with John Walter to operate a sawmill, under the name Walter & Humberstone. This partnership ended in 1901. He was elected to the Edmonton Town Council as an alderman in the 1897 municipal election, finishing sixth of nine candidates, (the election was conducted using Plurality block voting).
