Hulleys of Baslow is a bus company based in Baslow, Derbyshire, England. History The origins of Hulleys can be traced back to 1914 when Henry Hulley purchased a Ford Model T taxi. In 1921 a bus was purchased to operate a service from Bakewell to Chesterfield. In 1925 a service from Bakewell to Youlgreave commenced. By 1934 further growth had seen the fleet expand to seven buses with excursions operated to York, Skegness, Southport and Blackpool. In the 1970s the business was sold to JH Woolliscroft & Sons. Services As at March 2020 Hulleys operate a wide network of services, centred around linking Peak District towns and villages with Sheffield, Chesterfield and Manchester, as well as networks serving Ashbourne, Bakewell and Matlock and their surrounding areas. From 29 March 2020 Hulleys will operate a new summer weekend service linking Sheffield, Chesterfield and Bakewell to such attractions as Alton Towers and Carsington Water. The MCV Evolution (stylised as ''eVolution''; internal designation: MCV C102) is a low floor and low entry single-decker bus body built by Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles. It was unveiled in 2003 as the successor to the MCV Stirling. The MCV Evolution 2 (internal designation: MCV C124RLE) was launched, initially on Mercedes-Benz chassis in 2011. X57 Snake
The X57, often referred to as the Snake, was a bus route that ran between Manchester and Sheffield via Glossop. History The route was introduced on 25 October 2020 by Hulleys of Baslow. In May 2021, the route was extended from Manchester Chorlton Street to Manchester Airport. In September 2021, Hulley's announced plans to extend the route to Macclesfield, however the planned extension was cancelled due to driver shortages. The service was eventually withdrawn due to low passenger numbers. The final day of operation of the X57 was 9 January 2022. Hulleys' 257, which ran parallel to the X57 between Sheffield and Bakewell via the Ladybower Reservoir, was increased to an hourly frequency with a £1 flat fare as a partial replacement of the route. TM Travel is a bus operator based in Halfway, Sheffield, operating bus services in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Founded in 1995 as a family-owned operation with one bus, by March 2008 it had expanded to become the largest independent operator in Derbyshire. The company was taken over by the Wellglade Group in January 2010. History TM Travel was founded in November 1995 by former Hulleys of Baslow employee Tim Watts. Their first vehicle was a Leyland Tiger coach used on coach hire operations from a depot near Chesterfield. Two similar vehicles were added to the fleet in early 1996. Two school bus services were taken on in the same year and the fleet expanded to ten vehicles.
