Hugo (album)
''Hugo'' is the third studio album by English hip hop artist Loyle Carner. It was released via Virgin EMI Records on 28 October 2022. The album was shortlisted for the 2023 Mercury Prize. Background Three years passed between the release of ''Hugo'' and Carner's previous album, '' Not Waving, but Drowning''. During this period he focussed on Chilli Con Carner, his cookery school for children with ADHD. His ongoing struggles with dyslexia and ADHD would inform the lyrical content of ''Hugo''. He also released three singles in 2020: solo release "Yesterday," "I Wonder Why" with Joesef, and "Let It Go" with FARR and Flatbush Zombies producer Erick the Architect. Songs Carner's first child, a boy, was born in late 2020. He stated a desire for his music to be a "a true representation of the facts" for his son to look back on, documenting Carner's life as a young, Black, artist dealing with issues from his past. Benjamin Gerard Coyle-Larner (born 6 October 1994), known professionally as Loyle Carner, is an English hip hop musician. After supporting various rappers during their tours, he released his debut album, '' Yesterday's Gone'', in 2017, which garnered a nomination for the 2017 Mercury Prize. He went on to release his second album, '' Not Waving, but Drowning'', in April 2019. Throughout his career, Carner has been nominated for two Brit Awards. Sun Ra
Le Sony'r Ra (born Herman Poole Blount, May 22, 1914 – May 30, 1993), better known as Sun Ra, was an American jazz composer, bandleader, piano and synthesizer player, and poet known for his experimental music, "cosmic" philosophy, prolific output, and theatrical performances. For much of his career, Ra led "The Arkestra", an ensemble with an ever-changing name and flexible line-up. Born and raised in Alabama, Blount became involved in the Chicago jazz scene during the late 1940s. He soon abandoned his birth name, taking the name Le Sony'r Ra, shortened to Sun Ra (after Ra, the Egyptian god of the Sun). Claiming to be an alien from Saturn on a mission to preach peace, he developed a mythical persona and an idiosyncratic credo that made him a pioneer of Afrofuturism. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or what the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review.
