Hugh McRoberts Secondary School
Hugh McRoberts Secondary School, officially "École Secondaire Hugh McRoberts Secondary School", is a Canadian school in Richmond, British Columbia. Named after Hugh McRoberts, an early settler on Sea Island, this secondary school (grades 8-12 in British Columbia) is one of the two schools in Richmond that offer the French Immersion Secondary School program (the other being McMath). McRoberts is situated at Garden City Rd. and Williams Rd. and is a member of School District 38 Richmond. Hugh McRoberts Secondary School opened on November 30, 1962 and was converted into a full-fledged secondary school in the mid-1990s, with the first class of the new grade 8-12 program graduating in 1997. The high school was partially renovated in 1999. The school logo and mascot is a "Striker", which is depicted as a mounted knight carrying a lance or a claymore. Arjan Singh Bhullar (born May 13, 1986) is an Indo-Canadian mixed martial artist currently competing in the heavyweight division of ONE Championship, where he is the current ONE Heavyweight World Champion. Cole Walliser is a Canadian filmmaker and music video director. He has directed videos for Miley Cyrus, P!nk and Katy Perry. Life and career Cole Walliser was born in Steveston, British Columbia and grew up in Vancouver. He is an alumnus from the University of British Columbia, with a B.A. in Psychology. Darcy Marquardt (born March 22, 1979) is a Canadian rower. She graduated from the University of Victoria in 2005 with a major in French, and a minor in Psychology. She has been on the National Women's Rowing Team for 10 years (2002-2012). In her first year on the team, Darcy won a silver medal in the women's fours event at the 2002 World Championships in Seville, Spain and the following year, a bronze in the eights at the 2003 World Championships and Olympic Qualifier in Milan, Italy. Brian Lawrence Johns (born August 5, 1982) is a former competition swimmer from Canada. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, he grew up in Richmond, British Columbia and trained with the Aquanauts and Racers (later Rapids) swim clubs. He started swimming at age five. Moist (band)
Moist is a Canadian rock band that formed in 1992. It consists of David Usher as lead vocalist, Mark Makoway on lead guitars, Jonathan Gallivan on guitars, Kevin Young on keyboards, Francis Fillion on drums, and Jeff Pearce on bass. Drummer Paul Wilcox left the band just before its hiatus in 2000. Moist was signed by EMI Music in 1994 and released three studio albums in the 1990s, becoming a staple of Canadian rock music.
