Glenn Gawdin
Glenn Gawdin (born March 25, 1997) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre currently playing with the San Diego Gulls in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth-round (116th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Major junior Growing up in Richmond, British Columbia, Gawdin began playing hockey through the Seafair Minor Hockey Association. In 2009, Gawdin played with the minor ice hockey team, the Richmond Blues, as they competed in the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association playoffs. He scored a hat-trick and was later named PeeWee-A . Gawdin was allowed to bypass minor hockey a year early to play with the Seafair Islanders Midget A1 team. Stockton Heat
The Stockton Heat were a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) that played from 2015 to 2022. The team was based in Stockton, California, and was affiliated with the National Hockey League (NHL) Calgary Flames. The Heat played its home games at Stockton Arena. It was a relocation of the Adirondack Flames, joining four other relocated AHL franchises in California that formed the basis for a Pacific Division following the 2014–15 season. The Heat replaced the ECHL's Stockton Thunder, which played from 2005 until 2015, after which they moved to Glens Falls, New York, where the franchise became the Adirondack Thunder. WHL Bantam Draft
The WHL Bantam Draft is an annual outing, in which the teams of the Western Hockey League select players who have graduated from bantam. The draft's order of selection depends on where the team finishes in the league standings. The teams that miss the playoffs are placed into a lottery for the 1st round only. After the 1st round, the teams select in order from fewest to most regular season points. History Years ago, WHL teams were allowed to list first-year bantam players as of a set date in September. However, first-year bantams had been playing at the peewee level the previous year, and to list first-year bantams, WHL teams needed to scout the peewee ranks. This had many drawbacks including the need for extensive scouting systems along with the related expense, as well the added pressure on peewee-aged players (12- and 13-year-olds). Canada Men's National Junior Ice Hockey Team
The Canadian men's national under-20 ice hockey team is the ice hockey team representing Canada internationally in under-20 competition. Their primary participation in this age group comes at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Junior Championship, held annually every December and January. The team also participates in various exhibition matches and occasional exhibition series, such as the 2007 Super Series against their Russian counterparts, an eight-game exhibition series commemorating the 35th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series. The 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge was an ice hockey tournament held in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Sydney, North Sydney, Nova Scotia, North Sydney and Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, Canada between December 29, 2013 and January 4, 2014. The Ontario Reign are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) that began play in the 2015–16 season. Based in Ontario, California, and affiliated with the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings, the team plays its home games at the Toyota Arena. The franchise is a relocation of the former Manchester Monarchs AHL franchise when several other franchises created a Pacific Division in 2015. The team is owned by the Anschutz Entertainment Group. The Moose Jaw Warriors are a major junior ice hockey team in the Western Hockey League based in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The Warriors play in the East Division of the Eastern Conference. The team plays its home games at Moose Jaw Events Centre. Jayden Halbgewachs
Jayden Halbgewachs (born March 22, 1997) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Växjö Lakers of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He formerly played for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Early life Halbgewachs was born on March 22, 1997, in Regina, Saskatchewan, to father Jamie. He grew up as the middle of two other brothers, Taylor and Brandon. Playing career Amateur Growing up in Emerald Park, Saskatchewan, Halbgewachs played bantam AA ice hockey for the Prairie Storm before being drafted in the 2012 Western Hockey League (WHL) Draft by the Kamloops Blazers. 2018 Memorial Cup
The 2018 Memorial Cup (branded as the 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup for sponsorship reasons) was a four-team, round-robin format tournament that was held at Brandt Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan from May 18–27, 2018. It was the 100th Memorial Cup championship of junior ice hockey, and determined the champion of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). The CHL chose to allow all three of its constituent leagues to bid for hosting the 100th Memorial Cup, instead of the usual rotation between its leagues. The Regina Pats won the right to host the tournament, over bids from the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Oshawa Generals. The Memorial Cup honours all Canadian military personnel killed in combat, and was founded in the wake of World War I in 1919. The Cup embarked on a tour across Canada for its centennial celebrations, which also included the release of a commemorative coin, and a special postage stamp. Raymond Sawada
Raymond Masao Sawada (February 19, 1985 – April 10, 2023) was a Canadian professional ice hockey winger. The Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL) selected him in the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, and he played 11 games with them between 2008 and 2011. Sawada spent most of his career, which lasted from 2008 to 2016, in the American Hockey League, with subsequent stints in the ECHL, SM-Liiga, Elite Ice Hockey League, and Asia League Ice Hockey. After he retired from the sport he become a firefighter. Sawada died in 2023 after suffering a heart attack during a recreational hockey game.
