Horace C. Spencer
Horace C. Spencer (July 1832 – November 1, 1926) was a Michigan, Illinois, politician. Early life In 1832, Spencer was born in Springville, Erie County, New York State or possibly Coutland, New York, United States. In 1853, he married Catherine Morris. Traveling to Michigan in 1866, he entered the hardware business until 1880. In 1877, he invested his money as one of the original stockholders in the Second National Bank of Bay City, Michigan. With the Genesee County Savings Bank in 1885, he served as a director then later as a vice-president and a chairman of the board of directors. From 1891 to 1903, Spencer served as the first cashier of Citizens Commercial and Savings Bank. He was also an initial member of the Board of Director. Michigan's 19th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 19th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. Citizens Republic Bancorp (primary operating name Citizens Bank) was an American bank headquartered in Flint, Michigan that merged with FirstMerit Bank in 2013. Citizens Republic Bancorp operated in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin. On September 13, 2012, it completed a merger agreement with FirstMerit Bank of Akron, Ohio. Genesee County Savings Bank
The Genesee County Savings Bank is an office building located at 352 South Saginaw Street in Flint, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. The Genesee County Savings Bank was founded in 1872. In 1915, the bank opened a new headquarters at the corner of Kearsley and Saginaw Streets. In 1916, the bank consolidated some business aspects with the First National Bank of Flint. Due to Flint's booming economy, both banks were outgrowing their headquarters, and in 1919, Genesee County Savings Bank constructed this new building only a block from their old headquarters. The building was designed by Hodgson Brothers of New York City. Over the rest of the 1920s, the bank grew tremendously, and in 1957 merged with Merchants & Mechanics Bank to form Genesee Merchants Bank & Trust Co. Erie County is a county along the shore of Lake Erie in western New York State. As of the 2020 census, the population was 954,236. The Flint Public Library is the public library serving Flint, Michigan. It was founded in 1851, and its current building on the Flint Cultural Center campus was built in 1958. It has hosted the Michigan Storytellers Festival since 1981 and the Julia A. Moore Poetry Contest (to celebrate bad poetry) since 1994.
