Home (UK Band)
Home were a British progressive rock band, active in the early 1970s. The core line up featured Mick Stubbs on lead guitar and lead vocals, Laurie Wisefield on lead guitar and vocals, Cliff Williams on bass guitar and vocals, and Mick Cook on drums. They also had two keyboardists during their existence. From 1971 to 1972 it was Swansea's Clive John (from the Welsh band Man), and the other for the rest of their short career was Jimmy Anderson. History Home was formed by Cliff Williams and Laurie Wisefield in 1970 after their first group together, 'Sugar', split. They teamed up with guitarist and vocalist Mick Stubbs and drummer Mick Cook. They signed to CBS Records in 1971 and released their first album, '' Pause for a Hoarse Horse'', in August. They started touring in November when they supported Led Zeppelin at the second Electric Magic Show at the Wembley Empire Pool. British Hit Singles & Albums
''British Hit Singles & Albums'' (originally known as ''The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles'' and ''The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums'') was a music reference book originally published in the United Kingdom by the publishing arm of the Guinness breweries, Guinness Superlatives. Later editions were published by HiT Entertainment (who had bought the Guinness World Records brand). It listed all the singles and albums featured in the Top 75 pop charts in the UK. In 2004 the book became an amalgamation of two earlier Guinness publications, originally known as ''British Hit Singles'' and ''British Hit Albums''. The publication of this amalgamation ceased in 2006, with Guinness World Records being sold to The Jim Pattison Group, owner of ''Ripley's Believe It or Not!''. At this point, the Official UK Charts Company teamed up with Random House/Ebury Publishing to release a new version of the book under the Virgin Books brand. The Groundhogs
Groundhogs are an English blues and rock band founded in late 1963, that toured extensively in the 1960s, achieved prominence in the early 1970s, and continued sporadically into the 21st century. Tony McPhee (guitar and vocals) is the sole constant member of the group, which has gone through many personnel changes, but usually records and performs as a power trio. Career The band was originally formed as the Dollar Bills in New Cross, London, in 1962 by brothers Pete and John Cruickshank (born in 1943 and 1945 respectively in Calcutta, West Bengal, India). Tony McPhee (born 22 March 1944), the lead guitarist in the instrumental group the Seneschals, joined the group later that year. McPhee steered them towards the blues and renamed them after a John Lee Hooker song, "Groundhog's Blues". Mark Evans (musician)
Mark Whitmore Evans (born 2 March 1956) is an Australian musician, the current bass guitarist for rock band Rose Tattoo, and also a member of hard rock band AC/DC from March 1975 to June 1977. His playing featured on their albums ''T.N.T. (album), T.N.T'', ''High Voltage (1976 album), High Voltage'', ''Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap'', ''Let There Be Rock'' and '''74 Jailbreak''. Evans has played for numerous other groups, sometimes on lead guitar, including Finch (Australian band), Finch (a.k.a. Contraband), Cheetah (band), Cheetah, Swanee (singer), Swanee, Heaven (Australian band), Heaven and The Party Boys. Bandit (band)
Bandit were an English rock band, formed in 1976 and disbanded in 1979. They are not to be confused with the same Bandit from the US who released their only album in 1975 on ABC Records, nor any other act with the same name since. Background Bandit released two albums with different line-ups. Bandit's debut ''Bandit'' was released in late 1976 on Arista Records. This album featured Jim Diamond on lead vocals, Danny McIntosh on guitar, future AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams, James Litherland and drummer Graham Broad, now of Roger Waters' band. A single entitled "Ohio" was also released. The punk rock music scene of the time caused a lack of attention and the band later parted ways. Diamond went on to join PhD, and gained a UK Top 10 hit with " I Won't Let You Down". He later went solo and scored two more chart-toppers. Alastair Ian Stewart (born 5 September 1945) is a Scottish born singer-songwriter and folk-rock musician who rose to prominence as part of the British folk revival in the 1960s and 1970s. He developed a unique style of combining folk-rock songs with delicately woven tales of characters and events from history. Stewart is best known for his 1976 hit single " Year of the Cat", from the platinum album of the same name. ''Disc'' was a weekly British popular music magazine, published between 1958 and 1975, when it was incorporated into ''Record Mirror''. It was also known for periods as ''Disc Weekly '' (1964–1966) and ''Disc and Music Echo '' (1966–1972). Background It first published on 8 February 1958, with the main competition being ''Record Mirror''. Louis Pauwels (; 2 August 1920 – 28 January 1997) was a French journalist and writer. Born in Paris, France, he wrote in many monthly literary French magazines as early as 1946 (including ''Esprit'' and ''Variété'') until the 1950s. He participated in the foundation of ''Travail et Culture'' (''Work and Culture'') in 1946 (intended to spread culture to the masses, and of which he was the secretary). In 1948, he joined the work groups of G. I. Gurdjieff for 15 months, until he became editor in chief of ''Combat'' in 1949 and editor of the newspaper ''Paris-Presse''. ''The Alchemist'' is the third and final album by British rock band Home, released in 1973 on the CBS Records label. After the group disbanded in 1974, Cliff Williams went on to join Bandit from 1975 to 1977 before he replaced Mark Evans in Australian hard rock band AC/DC. Guitarist Laurie Wisefield went on to achieve success with the British band Wishbone Ash from 1974 to 1985. The record also featured Jimmy Anderson on keyboards.
