Hoffman Estates
Hoffman Estates is a village in Illinois, United States. The village is located primarily in Cook County, with a small section in Kane County. It is a suburb of Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 52,530. The village now serves as the headquarters for Sears and the American headquarters for Mori Seiki. The village owns Now Arena, home of the Windy City Bulls of the NBA G League. In 2009, the village hosted the Heartland International Tattoo, one of the largest music and dance festivals of its kind in the Midwest. History Prior to the 1940s, German settlers moved into the area west of Roselle Road and north of Golf Road, then known as Wildcat Grove. The area was sparsely populated until gentleman farmers purchased land in the area in the 1940s. In 1954, Sam and Jack Hoffman, owners of a father-son owned construction company, bought 160 acres of land in the area. Woodfield Mall is a shopping mall located in the northwest Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois, United States, at the intersection of Golf Road and Interstate 290. The Sunderlage Farm Smokehouse is a historic smokehouse at 1775 Vista Walk in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The smokehouse was built circa 1860 as part of the Sunderlage Farm; it and the farm's farmhouse are the only remaining farm buildings in Hoffman Estates. While the area that is now Hoffman Estates was rural for much of the early nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, its farms were subdivided into suburban housing in the 1960s. The smokehouse, which was used to cure and hold the farm's meat supply, is well-preserved compared to other surviving contemporary smokehouses in northeastern Illinois. The Heartland International Tattoo presented at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois is an exhibition of military and civilian marching bands, bagpipe bands, brass bands, Highland dancers, Irish dancers and more. History Created in 2006, the Heartland International Tattoo pays tribute to various United States Military. In 2006, the tribute was to the USS ''Arizona'' that was lost at Pearl Harbor. 2007 marked the Second Annual Heartland International Tattoo by paying tribute to the Military and Music of the Civil War. The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official minor league basketball organization. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017. The Windy City Bulls are an American professional basketball team in the NBA G League based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and are affiliated with the Chicago Bulls.
