HoagieNation
The HoagieNation Festival was started in 2017 by Philadelphia's own pop rock duo, Hall & Oates, as a "celebration of everything Philly". Being described by Daryl Hall, HoagieNation is “a wonderful and colorful place where the citizens are united by a love of cold meat and Amoroso’s rolls.” Meanwhile, John Oates described Philly as being “famous for a lot of things” with the highlights being “the amazing music” and “the hoagie,” which the duo were “ uttingit all together.” The festival was recognized by Mayor of Philadelphia Jim Kenney, who said that “Daryl and John hold a special place in the hearts of Philadelphia music fans,” and that “we are extremely excited that they are launching their first-ever curated festival back where it all began, right here in Philadelphia.” The festival has featured many artists, in addition to Hall & Oates, that are local to Philadelphia, including G. Tommy Conwell
Tommy Conwell (Thomas Edward Conwell) (born January 14, 1962) is an American guitarist, songwriter and performer. He is best known as the frontman for the Philadelphia-based band Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers. The band had a #1 US mainstream rock hit in 1988 with "I'm Not Your Man", which also peaked at 74 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Daryl Hall and John Oates, commonly known as Hall & Oates, are an American pop rock duo formed in Philadelphia in 1970. Daryl Hall is generally the lead vocalist; John Oates primarily plays electric guitar and provides backing vocals. The two write most of the songs they perform, separately or in collaboration. They achieved their greatest fame from the mid-1970s to the late-1980s with a fusion of rock and roll, soul music and rhythm and blues. Blues Traveler (formerly known as "The Establishment" or "The Black Cat Jam" or "The Establishment Blues Band") is an American rock band that formed in Princeton, New Jersey in 1987. David Uosikkinen (born February 11, 1956) is an American drummer and Internet content manager, best known for being a member of rock band The Hooters. Early life Born in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, U.S., Uosikkinen grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania and at eight years old, took up the trumpet. Marah is an American Rock'n'Roll band that formed in the early 1990s and is closely associated with the cities of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, New York. Dietz & Watson is an American preparer of delicatessen foods, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. History Dietz & Watson was founded by Gottlieb Dietz, a German sausage maker, who developed his skills while working at a meatpacking plant for almost two decades. In 1939, he purchased the Watson Meat Company and combined his name with Walter Watson, the former owner, who stayed on as the sales manager. When Gottlieb passed, his daughters Lore and Ruth Dietz took over the family company. Under Lore and Ruth, the company expanded to become the largest deli meat purveyor in Philadelphia. Ruth continued to offer guidance to the company until her death at age 94.
