British Skydiving is the national governing body for skydiving in the United Kingdom. Overview British Skydiving was founded in 1960 to organise, govern and further the advancement of sport parachuting within the UK. British Skydiving aims to encourage participation in skydiving within the UK. In 2016 there were nearly 6,000 full members and around 60,000 students, and around 30 affiliated training organisations. Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield
Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield is an airfield on the west side of Hinton-in-the-Hedges near Brackley, Northamptonshire, England. The airfield is made up of several runways, one of which is Asphalt at 700 m (2,297 ft) long. It consists of several well-drained short-mown grass runways which are oriented: 06/24, 09/27 and 15/33. The field is flat and plays home to many activities, from power flying to glider flying. The skydiving centre is open 6 days a week (closed Mondays) and skydiving takes place weather permitting. During the British Grand Prix at nearby Silverstone, it is used as a park and ride. Hinton-in-the-Hedges
Hinton-in-the-Hedges is a small village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire, England, due west of the town of Brackley. West of the village is Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 179 people. It had decreased to 167 at the 2011 Census. History The village's name means "community farm/settlement". There is no known record of monastic settlement here. The parish church is dedicated to The Most Holy Trinity. A church has existed here since Saxon times the earliest recorded Rector being Sir Richard de Hynton in 1275. There are monuments to Sir William Hinton (d.13th century), Raynold Braye (d.1582) and Salathiell Crewe (d.1686). Accelerated Freefall

This method of skydiving training is called "accelerated" because the progression is the fastest way to experience solo freefall, normally from 10,000 to 15,000 feet above ground level (AGL). In static line progression, more jumps are required to experience freefall, but the jumps are less expensive for the student as one instructor can dispatch multiple students per load and students are initially dispatched from lower altitudes. Tandem skydiving or tandem parachuting refers to a type of parachuting, skydiving where a student skydiver is connected to an instructor via a harness. The instructor guides the student through the whole jump from exit through freefall, canopy piloting, piloting the canopy, and landing. The student needs only minimal instruction before making a tandem jump with the instructor. In the United States most skydiving centers and clubs require that you be 18 years or older to skydive whereas in other countries the minimum age can be lower or higher. This is one of three commonly used training methods for beginning skydivers; the others being Static line, Instructor-assisted deployment (IAD), and Accelerated freefall (AFF) (k).
