Henley is an unincorporated community in Klamath County, Oregon, United States. It is about southeast of Klamath Falls along Oregon Route 39. The community is named after James T. Henley, who settled here in 1887 and operated a large ranch. He died in 1901. Henley High School, Henley Middle School, and Henley Elementary are in Henley. William Ernest Henley
William Ernest Henley (23 August 184911 July 1903) was an English poet, writer, critic and editor. Though he wrote several books of poetry, Henley is remembered most often for his 1875 poem "Invictus". A fixture in London literary circles, the one-legged Henley might have been the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's character Long John Silver (''Treasure Island,'' 1883), while his young daughter Margaret Henley inspired J. M. Barrie's choice of the name Wendy for the heroine of his play ''Peter Pan'' (1904). Early life and education Henley was born in Gloucester on 23 August 1849, to mother, Mary Morgan, a descendant of poet and critic Joseph Warton, and father, William, a bookseller and stationer. Baron Henley
Baron Henley is a title that has been created twice: first in the Peerage of Great Britain and then in the Peerage of Ireland. The first creation came in 1760 in favour of Sir Robert Henley, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain, when he was created Lord Henley, Baron of Grainge, in the County of Southampton. In 1764 he was further honoured when he was made Earl of Northington. On the death of his son, the second Earl, both titles became extinct. Lady Elizabeth Henley, youngest daughter of the first Earl and co-heiress of the second Earl, married the diplomat Morton Eden. In 1799, the Henley title was revived when Eden was created Baron Henley, of Chardstock in the County of Dorset, in the Peerage of Ireland. Their son, the second Baron, assumed the surname of Henley in lieu of Eden and notably published a biography of his maternal grandfather. Henley Business School is a business school which now forms part of the University of Reading. It was formed by merging the previously independent Henley Management College (formerly the Administrative Staff College) with the existing business school of the University of Reading. As a result of the merger it now occupies two sites: Greenlands Campus, near the town of Henley-on-Thames, the original site of the Henley Management College, and Whiteknights Campus in Reading. Henley Beach is a coastal suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Charles Sturt. History Henley Beach was named for the English town of Henley-on-Thames, the home town of Sir Charles Cooper, South Australia's first judge. Cooper had a residence in the area adjacent Charles Sturt's property "The Grange", for which Grange Beach was named. It has been asserted that Sturt's suggestion of "Cooper's Beach" was rejected by Cooper, who gave it the current name. The ''Town of Henley Beach'' was promoted in the South Australian Register in 1860 as being "free from all the noxious smells which have been cause of complaint elsewhere". Henley River
The Henley River is a river in Kenora District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. The river is in the Hudson Bay drainage basin and is a left tributary of the Albany River. From 1768 until 1850, the majority of its existence, the Hudson's Bay Company Henley House was at the mouth of the river; prior to that, it was on the opposite (left) bank to the confluence of the Kenogami River with the Albany River, just upstream.
