Henley Business School
Henley Business School is a business school which now forms part of the University of Reading. It was formed by merging the previously independent Henley Management College (formerly the Administrative Staff College) with the existing business school of the University of Reading. As a result of the merger it now occupies two sites: Greenlands Campus, near the town of Henley-on-Thames, the original site of the Henley Management College, and Whiteknights Campus in Reading. As of 2020 the school had triple accreditation by EQUIS, AMBA and the AACSB. History 1945-1981 The Administrative Staff College was set up in 1945 at Henley-on-Thames as the civilian equivalent of the military staff colleges. Greenlands, Buckinghamshire
Greenlands is a country house situated by the River Thames in Buckinghamshire, just outside Henley-on-Thames. Built in the nineteenth century, it now forms the core of Greenlands Campus of the University of Reading, and is used by their Henley Business School as the base for its MBA and corporate learning offerings. It has been a Grade II* listed building since 1992. History The present building was built on the site of a previous house which was owned in the seventeenth century by the D'Oyley family, descendants of the Norman Robert D'Oyly. ICMA Centre
The International Capital Market Association Centre (or ICMA Centre) is a centre of higher education based in the English town of Reading, Berkshire. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education tailored to the capital markets industry. Established in 1991 with funding provided by the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) in Zurich through a partnership with the University of Reading, the centre is housed in a purpose-built modernist building, and was formally opened in March 1998 by Sir Brian Unwin, then President of the European Investment Bank. Geoffrey Heyworth, 1st Baron Heyworth
Geoffrey Heyworth, 1st Baron Heyworth (18 October 1894 – 15 June 1974), was a British businessman and public servant. At the outbreak of WW1 he was employed as an accountant in Toronto, Canada. He served as a Lieutenant in 134th Battalion CEF 1916/1919. He was wounded in action in France 14 July 1918. Heyworth was chairman of Imperial Chemical Industries and of Unilever, a company for which he worked for 48 years until his retirement in 1960. He was also a member of the National Coal Board. In 1951 he was appointed to a commission, led by Sir Lionel Cohen, set up to look into the issue of taxation on income and profits. The River Thames ( ), known alternatively in parts as the River Isis, is a river that flows through southern England including London.
