Henfynyw
Henfynyw is a village and community in the county of Ceredigion, Wales, just outside Aberaeron, and is 69.6 miles (111.9 km) from Cardiff and 183.5 miles (295.4 km) from London. In 2011 the population of Henfynyw numbered 1045, with 54.3% of them able to speak Welsh. The community includes the villages of Ffos-y-ffin, Llwyncelyn and Derwen-gam Henfynyw church and St. David By the twelfth century, Henfynyw church was dedicated to St. David, and early Christian lore had it that Henfynyw was the place where St David had spent some of his early years. For instance, the 'Holy Bard of Brecon' ( Gwynfardd Brycheiniog, flourished 1176 AD) drew on this lore, when he included Henfynyw church in a poem. Llwyncelyn, Ceredigion
Lwyncelyn is a village in Ceredigion, Wales, situated on the A487 trunk road approximately southwest of the town of Aberaeron and northeast of the village of Llanarth. The village forms part of the community of Henfynyw with most of the village situated along the A487 trunk road and the unclassified road leading to the nearby hamlet of Oakford, Ceredigion (Derwen Gam). Location The Ceredigion coastline is miles away at the small shingle beach at Gilfach yr Halen. There are two small rivers running through Llwyncelyn. The Afon Cwinten to the North, and Avon Drywi to the South of the village. St David
Saint David ( cy, Dewi Sant; la, Davidus; ) was a Welsh bishop of Mynyw (now St Davids) during the 6th century. He is the patron saint of Wales. David was a native of Wales, and tradition has preserved a relatively large amount of detail about his life. His birth date, however, is uncertain: suggestions range from 462 to 512. He is traditionally believed to be the son of Saint Non and the grandson of Ceredig ap Cunedda, king of Ceredigion. The Welsh annals placed his death 569 years after the birth of Christ, but Phillimore's dating revised this to 601. Hagiography Many of the traditional tales about David are found in the ''Buchedd Dewi'' ("Life of David"), a hagiography written by Rhygyfarch in the late 11th century. Ceredigion
Ceredigion ( , , ) is a county in the west of Wales, corresponding to the historic county of Cardiganshire. During the second half of the first millennium Ceredigion was a minor kingdom. It has been administered as a county since 1282. Ceredigion is considered a centre of Welsh culture and just under half of the population can speak Welsh according to the 2011 Census. Community (Wales)
A community ( cy, cymuned) is a division of land in Wales that forms the lowest tier of local government in Wales. Welsh communities are analogous to civil parishes in England. Aberaeron
Aberaeron, previously anglicised as Aberayron, is a town, community, and electoral ward between Aberystwyth and Cardigan, in Ceredigion, Wales. Ceredigion County Council offices are in Aberaeron. The name of the town is Welsh for ''mouth of the Aeron'', derived from the Middle Welsh ', "slaughter", which gave its name to Aeron, who is believed to have been a Welsh god of war. The population was 1,520 in 2001, and 1,422 in 2011. History and design In 1800, there was no significant coastal settlement here. The present town was planned and developed from 1805 by the Rev. Ffos-y-ffin
Ffos-y-ffin is a village near Aberaeron, Wales. It is a great place to see the Red Kites. It is on the very scenic road between Aberystwyth and Cardigan. There is a public house called the Red Lion.
