Helensvale is a suburb of the City of Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. In the , Helensvale had a population of 16,862 people. Geography Helensvale is bounded by the Pacific Motorway to the west, by the Coomera River to the north, by Saltwater Creek to the north-east, by Coombabah Creek and Coombabah Lake to the south-east. Saltwater Creek flows through the suburb from west ( Oxenford) to the north from where it forms the north-east boundary of the suburb. The principal land use is residential including some canal estates in the north of the suburb providing boat access to Coomera River and Saltwater Creek. There are areas of low-lying mangrove swamps along the Coombabah Creek. Saltwater Creek Conservation Park is small protected area () of in the west of the suburb. Helensvale High School is a public secondary school located in the suburb of Helensvale on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is situated on the corner of Discovery Drive and Helensvale Road. The school first opened in 1990 with Rod Cassidy as the foundation principal. The School motto is One student, one community, many futures . Helensvale High caters for a large catchment of students, with nearly 2,600 enrolments, making it one of the largest high schools in the Gold Coast region. Westfield Helensvale also referred to as Helensvale Town Centre, is a shopping centre at Helensvale on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It opened in 2005. It was the first Westfield on the Gold Coast and includes Coles, Kmart, Aldi, Target and Woolworths as majors as well as a food court with McDonald's, KFC and Subway. It also provides optimum access to Helensvale station. When approval for construction of the centre was requested by Westfield, it was suggested that the Helensvale location was too close to existing centres at Southport ( Australia Fair) and Runaway Bay (Runaway Bay Shopping Village). Helensvale railway station is a major public transport interchange in the Gold Coast suburb of Helensvale. Helensvale railway station is served by the Queensland Rail Citytrain network Gold Coast line, G:link light rail and Surfside Buslines bus services. History Helensvale station opened on 25 February 1996 as the terminus of the Gold Coast line from Beenleigh. The line was later extended to Nerang on 16 December 1997. When opened, Helensvale station was also served by a CountryLink road coach service from Murwillumbah, this was diverted when the line was extended south. A track duplication to the north of the station, linking with Coomera, was completed in October 2017. The new track provides additional capacity in time for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The Coombabah Lake Conservation Park is a conservation park that is an Important Wetland in Australia, located in the Gold Coast region of South East Queensland, Australia. Part of the Coomera River catchment, Lake Coombabah is a tidal lake at the mouth of Coombabah Creek. The Coombabah wetlands are significant because they are the most southerly lake and coastal swampland representatives in the bioregion, and because the area provides significant wildlife value and refuge habitat. The conservation area includes tidal marshlands and mangroves along part of the lakes edge. The Melaleuca boardwalk allows viewing of the wildlife. The mangroves are home to frogs, crabs and fish that attract native and migratory birds. Saltwater Creek is a creek on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It flows from the Nerang National Park to Coombabah Creek which eventually goes out to the Coral Sea. Geography "Saltwater Creek is a small micro-tidal estuary in the Gold Coast region of Australia. The creek system is approximately 17 km long, flowing from its head headwaters in the Nerang State Forest to the Coombabah Creek estuary confluence which connects to the Coomera River.
