Heiki Raudla
Heiki Raudla (born 20 May 1949 in Võhma) is an Estonian educator, cartoonist and politician. Rausla graduated from the Department of Physics and Chemistry of Tartu State University in 1972 with a degree in physics. He later worked as a physics teacher. Since 1972, he has been drawing cartoons for newspapers such as ''Edasi'', ''Tee Kommunismile'', ''Sakala'', '' Oma maa'', and magazines such as Pikker and Noorus. In the period from 1928 to 1996 it was largely known for its slaughterhouse. The closure of the slaughterhouse caused a spike in unemployment, but the town has somewhat rebounded since then. History and profile The paper was the successor of ''Postimees'' of which the name was changed to ''Edasi'' in 1948 to make the paper more Soviet. ''Pikker'' was an Estonian magazine of satire and humor published between 1943 and 2001, named for the Estonian lightning god Pikker. During 1943–1944 ''Pikker'' existed as satire and humor supplement to the Soviet Estonian newspaper ''Rahva Hääl'' and printed in Moscow and Leningrad. In 1945 its editorial office was moved to Tallinn, Estonian SSR. In 1973 Pikker published two articles which criticised the planned economy which were censored by the authorities soon after the publication.
