"Heartlines" is a song recorded by New Zealand music duo Broods from their second studio album, ''Conscious (Broods album), Conscious'' (2016). Georgia Nott and Caleb Nott, the sole members of Broods, wrote the song with New Zealand singer Lorde and record producer Joel Little, who was responsible for production. It was first released on 10 June 2016 as the first promotional single from the album, and later as the album's second single on 16 January 2017. It is a synthpop track with electronic beats and synthesizers. Its lyrics detail the hope left in a tumultuous long-distance relationship. ''Conscious'' is the second studio album recorded by New Zealand music duo Broods, released on 24 June 2016. It builds on the electropop sound established in their 2014 debut, ''Evergreen'', with elements of industrial and R&B. The album includes collaborations with Tove Lo and Lorde, and was preceded in April 2016 by the RMNZ Gold-certified single, " Free". Broods is a New Zealand musical duo from Nelson, composed of Georgia Josiena Nott on lead vocals, with older brother and multi-instrumentalist Caleb Allan Joseph Nott on production and backing vocals. Background and recording Speaking to Matt and Alex on Triple J in June 2016, James explained "It's the first song I wrote when I first started with working with Joel Little. He was still living in New Zealand... so I went over to Auckland and spent half a day and we came up with this song."
