Hassan Mattar
Hassan Mattar ( ar, حسن مطر; born 1 January 1956 in Doha, Qatar) is a Qatari former striker who played for Al Sadd and Qatar. He currently serves as the Head of Youth Teams for Al Sadd. He was an international for the Qatar national team, participating in the Gulf Cup of Nations. He started off playing for Al Oruba, but when the head coach Hassan Osman transferred to Al Sadd, he brought Mattar with him. At that time in Qatari football, players could transfer from clubs virtually unconditionally with no clubs paying to transfer players. He received a call from Sheikh Hamad bin Suhaim, the former president of Al Oruba, who was shocked at Mattar's decision to switch clubs. Nonetheless, he stayed with his current club. He played a crucial role in the 1982 Emir Cup, where he scored the winner against Al Rayyan, and also in the league, where he was the top scorer in the 1980–81 season. The Qatar Stars League ( ar, دوري نجوم قطر), or the QSL, also called QNB Stars League for sponsorship reasons, is the top level football league in Qatar football league system. Contested by 12 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Qatari Second Division (QSD). Seasons of the QSL usually run from September to April. The league's first season was played in 1963, although the first official season occurred in 1972. Al-Rayyan Sports Club () is a Qatari multi-sports club fielding teams in a number of sports such as football, futsal, basketball, volleyball, handball, athletics, table tennis, and swimming. It is based at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Umm Al Afaei in the city of Al Rayyan. The club was founded in 1967 after merging the old Rayyan team with ''Nusoor Club''. The official team colours are red and black. Emir of Qatar Cup ( ar, كأس أمير قطر), also known as the Emir Cup, but changed to Amir Cup starting in 2019, is an association football tournament played every season by 18 first and second division teams. The most successful is Al Sadd who won the tournament 18 times. Emir of Qatar Cup was played for the first time in 1972, and was won by Al Ahli. History Al Ahli SC won the first ever Emir of Qatar Cup, defeating Al-Rayyan SC 6-1 under the leadership of Sudanese coach Mohammed Kheiri. Till this day, it is the joint-largest scoreline ever recorded in an Emir Cup final. It was refereed by Ali al-Absi, while Abdullah Siddiqi scored the first ever goal in an Emir Cup final.
