Harry Martin (field Hockey)
Harry John Martin (born 23 October 1992) is an English field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for HC Rotterdam and the England and Great Britain national teams. His sister, Hannah Martin is an English field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for England and Great Britain. Club career For the 2021–22 season he returns to play club hockey in the Dutch Hoofdklasse for HC Rotterdam, for whom he enjoyed a successful 2016–17 season. He had been playing in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Hampstead & Westminster. Prior to that, he won the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division title in consecutive seasons with Beeston Hockey Club. International career Martin made his senior debut, aged 17, for Great Britain on 12 July 2010. England Hockey is the national governing body for the sport of field hockey in England. There are separate governing bodies for the sport in the other parts of the United Kingdom. History and organisation England Hockey was formed on 1 January 2003 to replace the English Hockey Association (EHA) which had had to suspend operations 2002 because of significant financial problems. The English Hockey Association had in turn been formed in 1996 to combine the function of the separate governing bodies for men's, women's and mixed hockey. 2021 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 2021 Men's EuroHockey Championship was the 18th edition of the Men's EuroHockey Championship, the biennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organised by the European Hockey Federation. The tournament was held alongside the women's tournament at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands and was originally scheduled to take place from 20 to 29 August 2021. However, following the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics to July and August 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled and took place from 4 to 13 June 2021. It was held over a thirteen-day period beginning on 30 July, and culminating with the medal finals on 11 August. The India men's national field hockey team represents India in international field hockey competitions, and is governed by Hockey India. The team was formerly under the control of Indian Hockey Federation. India was the first non-European team to be a part of the International Hockey Federation. The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The Men's Hoofdklasse Hockey, currently known as the Tulp Hoofdklasse Men for sponsorship reasons, is the men's top division of field hockey in the Netherlands. The league ranks third in the European league ranking table. The league was established in 1973, and before the league existed the champions of the several district played in a championship pool to determine the national champion.
