Harry Johnson (4 January 1899 – May 1981) was an English footballer who played as a striker for Sheffield United and Mansfield Town. Career Sheffield United Johnson played for Sheffield United between 1916 and 1931. He is Sheffield United's all-time top goalscorer with 201 goals. He played his first match in United colours for a Reserve side at Heckmondwike, and upset the home fans who "displayed a certain amount of animosity," and one irate man even waved an unloaded gun at him. Mansfield Town He played for Mansfield Town between 1932 and 1935, for which he is also all-time top goalscorer with 114 goals in all competitions. Tom Johnson (4 May 1911 – 19 August 1983) was an English footballer who played as a defender. He made over 250 appearances for Sheffield United, the club which his father and brother also played for. Career Despite his family connections, Johnson had been playing for his local side Ecclesfield United as an amateur when he was signed by Sheffield United in September 1928, but remained on part-time terms. Despite making his league debut in March 1930 in a home game against Bolton Wanderers, Johnson was seen as a slow developer and had to wait until the 1934–35 season before he could begin to establish himself in the first-team, only becoming a full-time professional in 1935. Having finally established himself, Johnson grew in confidence and missed very few games in the following seasons, appearing in the 1936 FA Cup Final, and being awarded the club captaincy in 1938 and leading United to promotion a year later. William Harrison Johnson (4 January 1876 – 17 July 1940) was an English professional footballer. Club career Johnson played for Ecclesfield Church before joining Sheffield United. He won the 1902 FA Cup Final with Sheffield United, having already lifted the trophy in 1899. That was a year after the team won the 1897–98 Football League; they were runners-up the seasons before and after. His sons Harry and Tom also became noted footballers for the ''Blades''. International career He represented England at international level, scoring on his debut against Ireland, on 17 March 1900. He played six games at international level, his last appearance in an England shirt being three years after his debut, in a match versus Scotland. Heckmondwike is a town in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, south west of Leeds. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is close to Cleckheaton and Liversedge.
