Harpellales
The Harpellales are an order of fungi classified in the subdivision Kickxellomycotina. Thalli are either unbranched or branched, producing basipetal series of trichospores. Zygospores are biconical. Species in the order are found attached to the gut lining of aquatic larvae of Insecta or (rarely) Isopoda. Harpellales are divided into two families, the Harpellaceae and the Legeriomycetaceae. According to the ''Dictionary of the Fungi'' (10th edition, 2008), the order contains 38 genera and 200 species. Zygomycota, or zygote fungi, is a former division or phylum of the kingdom Fungi. The members are now part of two phyla: the Mucoromycota and Zoopagomycota. Approximately 1060 species are known. They are mostly terrestrial in habitat, living in soil or on decaying plant or animal material. Some are parasites of plants, insects, and small animals, while others form symbiotic relationships with plants. Urbain-Louis-Eugène Léger (7 September 1866 – 7 July 1948) was a French zoologist who was a specialist on aquatic protists, fish parasites, and fish farming. He served as a professor of zoology at Grenoble. Léger was born in Loches, son of a school teacher. He grew up in Touraine and went to the University of Poitiers where he studied under Aimé Schneider, receiving a doctorate for studies on gregarines. He then worked in Marseilles and studied medicine, receiving a medical degree in 1895 for studies on arteries in the aged. He became a lecturer at Grenoble in 1898 and became a full professor in 1904. Léger's researches included work on the Gregarinida in collaboration with Octave Duboscq. Octave Joseph Duboscq (30 October 1868, Rouen – 18 February 1943, Nice) was a French zoologist, mycologist and parasitologist. He obtained doctorates in medicine (1894) and sciences (1899) at the University of Caen.
