Hans Peter Steinacher
Hans-Peter Steinacher (born 9 September 1968 in Zell am See) is an Austrian sailor and Olympic champion. He won a gold medal in the '' Tornado class'' with Roman Hagara at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. They won the gold medal again at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Along with his teammate Roman Hagara, he has won the Austrian Sports Personality of the Year twice, in 2000 and 2004. In December 2021 Alinghi founder Ernesto Bertarelli Hans Peter Steinacher announced the launch of the new Alinghi Red Bull Racing. Zell Am See
Zell am See is the administrative capital of the Zell am See District in the Austrian state of Salzburg (state), Salzburg. Silvaplana
Silvaplana ( Romansh: ) is a municipality in the Maloja Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden and the name of a lake in the municipality. History The first sign of a settlement in the borders of the municipality are some Roman-era broken pillars on the Julier Pass. The village church was first mentioned in 1356. A new, late gothic church was built in 1491. In 1556 the village converted to the Protestant Reformation. Geography Silvaplana has an area, , of . Société Nautique De Genève
The Société Nautique de Genève is a yacht club based in Geneva (Switzerland). It was founded in 1872 with the goal of developing nautical sports and high level sailors. Currently the club has about 3000 members. The club held the America's Cup from 2003 until 2010, staging one successful defense in 2007 with its Alinghi syndicate. The club is very active in yacht racing and high-performance catamarans have been developed specifically for the lake. The design of '' Alinghi 5'', the defender of the 2010 America's Cup, was influenced by those racing catamarans. Alinghi, or Alinghi Red Bull Racing because of the sports marketing branding by Red Bull, is the syndicate set up by Ernesto Bertarelli, racing under the colors of the Société Nautique de Genève, to challenge for the America's Cup, as well as other competitions. Bertarelli had raced several smaller yachts named ''Alinghi'' previously, but 2003 was his first attempt at the America's Cup. Roman Hagara
Roman Hagara (born 30 April 1966) is an Austrian sailor who has won the gold medal in the Tornado class at two consecutive Olympic Games. Hagara, and his colleague Hans-Peter Steinacher won the gold medal in the Tornado class at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and successfully defended their title at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, which, to date, makes them Austria's the most successful summer sport athletes as the first professional Austrian sailing team. Tornado (sailboat)
The Tornado is a double handed multihull class recognised as an International Class by the International Sailing Federation. It was used for the Catamaran discipline at the Sailing at the Summer Olympics, Olympic Games from 1976 to 2008. Design The boat was designed in 1967 by Rodney March from the Isle of Sheppey, England. At the IYRU Olympic Catamaran Trials for international status, where it defeated other catamarans.
