Hans-Jürgen Reznicek
Hans-Jürgen "Jäcki" Reznicek is a German bassist. Biography Reznicek was born in Dresden and started playing bass in the 1970s. His role model was Paul McCartney. His first band was not allowed to play in East Germany, so he took music lessons. His teacher recommended him to study music and he was accepted at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. During his studies, he played in various jazz and pop bands until he joined the ''Klaus Lenz Big Band''. In 1979 he met the musicians with whom he founded the band Pankow in 1981. Reznicek was also often booked as a studio musician. Being one of only a few fretless bass players in the GDR, he was asked by Silly to record a fretless version of their successful song ''Bataillon d'amour'' in 1986. Pankow (German Band)
Pankow are a German rock band, founded in East Berlin in 1981. Their name came from the Berlin district of Pankow, which was once home to most of the officials of the East German government. The band's original lineup consisted of Jürgen Ehle, André Herzberg, Rainer Kirchmann, Jäcki Reznicek and Frank Hille. Other members were Stefan Dohanetz, Ingo York and Jens Jensen. As their lyrics often contained criticism of the East German regime, they frequently encountered problems releasing their music. King Køng () was a German alternative rock band established in 1989 and officially declared defunct in 1999, though its last album was released in 1992. Alphaville (band)
Alphaville is a German synth-pop band formed in Münster in 1982. They gained popularity in the 1980s. The group was founded by singer Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd, and Frank Mertens. They achieved chart success with the singles " Forever Young", " Big in Japan", "Sounds Like a Melody", "The Jet Set" and " Dance with Me". Gold remains the only continuous member of Alphaville. History Formation Alphaville was formed after lead singer Marian Gold and Bernhard Lloyd met in Berlin in 1981. The pair were heavily influenced by UK indie acts like Tubeway Army, Gary Numan and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD). Gerhard Gundermann
Gerhard Rüdiger Gundermann, who generally performed as simply Gundermann (February 21, 1955 – June 21, 1998), was a German singer-songwriter and rock musician. A skilled excavator operator, his musical career began in the former East Germany, where he became known for his clever, often melancholic lyrics imbued with social commentary. After German reunification, he became especially popular among former East Germans who felt alienated and marginalized in the reunited country. Career Born in Weimar, Gundermann moved with his family to Hoyerswerda in 1967. Rahnsdorf
Rahnsdorf () is a locality (''Ortsteil'') of Berlin, Germany, located in the southeast of the Berlin borough (''Bezirk'') of Treptow-Köpenick. Until 2001 it was part of the former borough of Köpenick. History Rahnsdorf was first mentioned in 1375, having been founded as a fishermen's village with its own church. The latter burned down almost completely in 1872 and thus had to be rebuilt thereafter. In 1902, the ''Villenkolonie'' of Wilhelmshagen was built in the east of the village with Tabor Church. Joachim Witt
Joachim Witt (born 22 February 1949) is a German rock musician and actor. Biography Witt was the guitarist/singer in the 1970s krautrock band Duesenberg. He released three albums with them, ''Duesenberg'' (1977), ''Duesenberg 2'' (1978) and ''Strangers'' (1979), before embarking on a solo career as a singer and actor. Witt became a major star of the German pop scene during the 1980s with huge hits such as "Goldener Reiter". He was one of the biggest names of the "Neue Deutsche Welle" (New German Wave), of which performers like Nena and Falco were also a part. Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Since the mid-1950s, the bass guitar has largely replaced the double bass in popular music. Silly (band)
Silly is a German rock band. Founded in East Germany in 1977, Silly was one of the country's most popular music acts, and was well known for its charismatic lead singer Tamara Danz. Her death in 1996 ended the band's recording career after 18 years. In 2005 the surviving members began to perform as Silly again, first with several guest singers, before choosing actress Anna Loos to replace Danz. The first album with the new line-up, ''Alles Rot'', became the band's most successful to date, reaching number 3 on the German charts in 2010. The Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber (Carl Maria von Weber College of Music; also/formerly known as Dresden Conservatory or Dresden Royal Conservatory) is a university of music in Dresden, Germany. History The Hochschule opened on 1 February 1856 and is one of the oldest German conservatoires. Francesco Morlacchi, Carl Maria von Weber and Richard Wagner made reference to the necessity of establishing institutional training for musicians in Dresden.
