Haim Goldenberg
Haim Goldenberg (born August 5, 1975) is an Israeli-Canadian mentalist, corporate entertainer, and host of the television series GoldMind. In August 2002 Haim was invited to participate in the world's largest magic convention in New York City. He introduced a unique kit called “Magic Interactive” which garnered him coverage in Newsweek magazine. In 2003, Goldenberg settled in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and was soon performing at major venues such as City Playhouse, Laugh Resort, and The Second City. Local newspapers and television stations took notice, and he appeared on CityTV's Breakfast Television and on Global News. In 2008 Goldenberg went into production on a television series with WestWind Pictures for CanWest. Mentalism
Mentalism is a performing art in which its practitioners, known as mentalists, appear to demonstrate highly developed mental or intuitive abilities. Performances may appear to include hypnosis, telepathy, clairvoyance, divination, precognition, psychokinesis, mediumship, mind control, memory feats, deduction, and rapid mathematics. Mentalists perform a theatrical act that includes special effects that may appear to employ psychic or supernatural forces but that are actually achieved by "ordinary conjuring means", natural human abilities (i.e. reading body language, refined intuition, subliminal communication, emotional intelligence), and an in-depth understanding of key principles from human psychology or other behavioral sciences. ''Newsweek'' is an American weekly online news magazine co-owned 50 percent each by Dev Pragad, its president and CEO, and Johnathan Davis (businessman), Johnathan Davis, who has no operational role at ''Newsweek''. Laugh Resort
The Laugh Resort was a stand-up comedy club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. For several years it was the only competition to the Yuk-Yuks chain in downtown Toronto. Visiting comedians frequently played at the club, and it became a home of Canada's independent and more alternative comics. The club moved from its location next to The Second City's historic Old Fire Hall to a central downtown location in the basement of the Holiday Inn on King Street in 2000, and closed in 2008 when the hotel chain was sold and the basement space was needed to build a new luxury restaurant. According to the club's website they are still looking for a new location. The Second City
The Second City is an improvisational comedy enterprise and is the oldest ongoing improvisational theater troupe to be continually based in Chicago, with training programs and live theatres in Toronto and Los Angeles. The Second City Theatre opened on December 16, 1959, and has since become one of the most influential and prolific comedy theatres in the English-speaking world. DTour (styled as DTOUR) is a Television in Canada, Canadian English language specialty channel owned by Corus Entertainment. The channel was originally established by Canwest in 1997 as Prime, a cable companion to Global Television Network, Global with a general entertainment format focusing on classic series and programming acquired from Global and CH.
