Hadiach Raion
Hadiach Raion ( uk, Гадяцький район; Romanization of Ukrainian, translit.: ''Hadyats'kyi Raion'') was a raion (district) in Poltava Oblast in central Ukraine. The raion's Capital (political), administrative center was the city of Hadiach, which was incorporated separately as a city of regional significance (Ukraine), city of oblast significance and did not belong to the raion. The raion was abolished and its territory was merged into Myrhorod Raion on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Poltava Oblast to four. A raion (also spelt rayon) is a type of administrative unit of several post-Soviet states. The term is used for both a type of subnational entity and a division of a city. The word is from the French (meaning 'honeycomb, department'), and is commonly translated as "district" in English. A raion is a standardized administrative entity across most of the former Soviet Union and is usually a subdivision two steps below the national level, such as a subdivision of an oblast. An oblast ( uk, о́бласть; ) in Ukraine, often called a region or province, is the main type of first-level administrative division of the country. Ukraine's territory is divided into 24 oblasts, as well as one autonomous republic, Crimea, and two cities with special status, Kyiv and Sevastopol.
