HMS Pallas (1804)
HMS ''Pallas'' was a 32-gun fifth rate Thames-class frigate, ''Thames''-class frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1804 at Plymouth. History ''Pallas'' was one of the seven ''Thames'' class frigates ordered for the fleet in early 1804. Her keel was laid at HMNB Devonport, Plymouth Dockyard in June 1804 and she was launched on the afternoon of 17 November the same year along with her sister-ship HMS Circe (1804), HMS ''Circe''. ''Pallas'' entered service in January 1805, under the command of Thomas Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald, Lord Cochrane and proceeded to cruise in the vicinity of the Azores. Here, ''Pallas'' captured three Spanish merchant ships and a Spanish 14-gun privateer. Cochrane was given orders to cruise off the Normandy coast in 1806. The Channel Fleet and originally known as the Channel Squadron was the Royal Navy formation of warships that defended the waters of the English Channel from 1854 to 1909 and 1914 to 1915. George Francis Seymour
Admiral of the Fleet Sir George Francis Seymour, (17 September 1787 – 20 January 1870) was a Royal Navy officer. After serving as a junior officer during the French Revolutionary Wars, Seymour commanded the third-rate under Admiral Sir John Duckworth at the Battle of San Domingo during the Napoleonic Wars. He also commanded the sloop at the blockade of Rochefort and the fifth-rate under Admiral Lord Gambier at the Battle of the Basque Roads. He then saw active service during the War of 1812. Seymour became Third Naval Lord in the Second Peel ministry and went on to be Commander-in-Chief Pacific Station. Walcheren Campaign
The Walcheren Campaign ( ) was an unsuccessful British expedition to the Netherlands in 1809 intended to open another front in the Austrian Empire's struggle with France during the War of the Fifth Coalition. Sir John Pitt, 2nd Earl of Chatham, was the commander of the expedition, with the missions of capturing Flushing and Antwerp in the Netherlands and enabling navigation of the Scheldt River. Some 39,000 soldiers, 15,000 horses together with field artillery and two siege trains crossed the North Sea and landed at Walcheren on 30July. Admiral George Cadogan, 3rd Earl Cadogan, CB, KMT (5 May 1783 – 15 September 1864) was a British Royal Navy officer and politician of the mid-nineteenth century who first gained fame for his service in the Adriatic campaign of the Napoleonic Wars in command of . Cadogan later served as aide-de-camp to successive British monarchs and received promotion to full admiral.
