HMG PK-16
The HMG PK-16 is a Pakistani belt-fed air-cooled gas-operated heavy machine gun designed and produced by the Pakistan Ordnance Factories. It was first unveiled on 23 November 2016 on the IDEAS defence exhibition inaugurated by both PM Nawaz Sharif and COAS Raheel Sharif and visited by Minister of Defence Khwaja Asif and MoDP Rana Tanveer Hussain. Its name might suggest its introduction in 2016. Characteristics The HMG PK-16 shows some similarities to the Soviet DShK, as well as the Chinese W85 and Type 54 Machine gun. The HMG PK-16 is assembled by two people with an assembling time of 5 minutes and 20 seconds and a disassembling time of 4 minutes and 30 seconds, however its assembling time with the gun mounted is less than one minute. W85 Heavy Machine Gun
The W-85 heavy machine gun or QJC-88 vehicle mounted heavy machine gun is a gas-operated heavy machine gun designed in the People's Republic of China. It fires the Soviet-designed 12.7×108mm round. The W-85 was never accepted into the PLA service in its original configuration, only adopted as vehicle mounted machine gun as the QJC-88. Another similar named Type 85 heavy machine gun, was adopted as the standard infantry heavy machine gun in the PLA. Overview The W85 was designed to be as light as possible for infantry use. Its small receiver is of generally rectangular cross-section, and it has a thick gas tube below the barrel containing a conventional gas piston. The PSR-90 (Precision Sniper Rifle) is a Pakistani semi-automatic 7.62×51mm precision rifle designed and manufactured by Pakistan Ordnance Factories. It is used by the SSG commandos. Characteristics The PSR-90 Sniper rifle is considered a variant of the H&K PSG1. In the words of the manufacturer it has the accuracy of a sniper rifle and the firepower of a machine gun. It has a weight of 8.1 kg with an overall length of 1158 mm. The Azb DMR MK1 or Azb MK1 is a Pakistani light weight semi-automatic designated marksman rifle designed and manufactured by the POF. It was first unveiled at the December 2014 IDEAS exhibition. It is believed to be named after the Counter-terrorist operation in North-West Pakistan Operation Zarb-e-Azb which had just been commenced at the time the Sniper rifle was introduced. It itself was designed for the Low intensity operations that were occurring during its time. The rifle has took part in many international defence exhibitions and has been offered for export. POF Eye
POF Eye is a special-purpose hand-held weapon system, similar to the Israeli Cornershot. It was first revealed at the 5th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2008), held at the Karachi Expo Centre in November 2008. It is designed for SWAT and special forces teams in hostile situations, particularly counter-terrorism and hostage rescue operations. History The system, specially designed for urban combat, anti-terrorist operations and police SWAT operations, was developed by Pakistan Ordnance Factories. Chairman of the POF board, Lt. Gen. Syed Sabahat Husain, told the visiting delegates at IDEAS 2008 that this new product of POF may meet the requirements of law enforcing agencies in order to curb the terrorist activities. QJZ-89
The QJZ-89, also known as the Type 89 heavy machine gun, is a heavy machine gun designed in the People's Republic of China and fires the Soviet 12.7×108mm ammunition. History In the early 1980s, Chinese firearms designers received scattered information from Soviet publications regarding the Soviet Union's adoption of a new heavy machine gun called the NSV. Chinese weapons industry misconstrued gun weight data of as the whole system weight due to a translation error. Astonished by the misinterpreted capability of the NSV, Chinese designers began to develop a comparable weapon system. Only after the development ended did they realized the weight figure didn't include the tripod. The weapon features a hybrid gas and recoil operated action. Type 77 Heavy Machine Gun
The Type 77 heavy machine gun or Type 85 is a Chinese 12.7×108mm heavy machine gun featuring an indigenous design. History During the mid-1970s, China decided to develop a lighter 12.7 mm machine gun to replace the Type 54 (indigenous DShK) that was more suited for mobile anti-aircraft applications. The weapon was adopted in 1977 and mass production commenced in 1980. To save weight the Type 77 used a hybrid short-recoil and direct gas impingement operated action, somewhat unusual for a machine gun, resulting in few moving parts and a long and slim, tubular receiver. Overall weight of the gun and tripod comes to about 56 kg (120 lb), less than half that of a mounted Type 54/DShK, though it retains the same locking system and belt feed.
