Hürth-Kalscheuren Station
Hürth-Kalscheuren station is in the town of Hürth in the Rhein-Erft district in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is at the junction of the Eifel Railway with the West Rhine Railway. The station was built in 1859 at the initiative of the city of Hürth, but was renamed ''Hürth-Kalscheuren'' in 1991/2 as a result of a contribution of Deutsche Mark 14,000 from Kalscheuren. Hürth
Hürth is a town in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Hürth shares borders with the city of Cologne and is about 6 km to the southwest of Cologne city centre, at the northeastern slope of the natural preserve Kottenforst-Ville. The town consists of thirteen districts, once independent villages, and is distributed over a relatively large area. The municipal area is interspersed with lakes and stretches of forest. In former times, the Eifel Aqueduct, a Roman aqueduct which supplied the city of Cologne with drinking water, went through Hürth. Remnants of various aqueducts can still be found underground. It is also famous as the birthplace of Michael Schumacher. Hürth-Kalscheuren–Ehrang Railway
The Hürth-Kalscheuren–Ehrang railway (also known in German as the ''Eifelstrecke''—Eifel Railway) is a non-electrified line in the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate running from Hürth-Kalscheuren via Euskirchen and Gerolstein to Trier-Ehrang through the Eifel hills. The line is predominantly duplicated north of Densborn. Today it is only served by trains running as far as Köln Messe/Deutz station or Trier Hauptbahnhof. History In 1864, the Rhenish Railway Company began construction of the Eifel line from Düren via Euskirchen and Gerolstein to Trier. The section from Düren to Euskirchen is now known as the Börde Railway (''Bördebahn''). On 1 October 1875, it was connected from Euskirchen with the Left Rhine line at Kalscheuren. Köln Messe/Deutz Station
Köln Messe/Deutz station (called ''Köln-Deutz'' until November 2004, Colognian: , ) is an important railway junction for long-distance rail and local services in the Cologne district of Deutz in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is situated close to the eastern bank of the Rhine and connected via the Hohenzollern Bridge to Köln Hauptbahnhof, the city's main station, which is just a few hundred metres away. The Cologne Trade Fair (german: Koelnmesse) grounds are directly north of the station, hence the ''Messe'' in the station's name. National Express Germany is a railway operator in Germany. A subsidiary of National Express, it commenced trading in December 2015. History In February 2013 National Express was awarded two regional rail contracts in Germany by the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr, Zweckverband Nahverkehr Rheinland and Zweckverband Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe authorities that commenced on 13 December 2015. Wuppertal-Oberbarmen station is a station in the city of Wuppertal in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was long an important railway junction, connecting to four railway lines. The only remaining lines at the station are the Dortmund–Wuppertal main line and the branch line to Solingen. History The first station building was opened along with the Elberfeld–Dortmund line under the name of ''Barmen-Rittershausen'' by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company on 9 October 1847. In 1930 it was renamed as ''Wuppertal-Oberbarmen''. In 1910, the tracks and Rosenau street were moved during the building of a depot at Wuppertal-Langerfeld. The Rhein-Wupper-Bahn is a Regionalbahn service in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It connects the cities of Wuppertal, Solingen, Leverkusen, Cologne and Bonn and it is operated by National Express.
