Hélène (album)
''Hélène'' is a 1989 album by Canadian singer Roch Voisine. The title track " Hélène" is his best sold single ever, reaching number one for nine weeks on the French Singles Chart. Other successful singles from the album include "Pourtant" (#3) and " Avant de partir" (#7), released in 1990 summer. Two songs were both written and composed by the singer himself. Marc Voisine, his brother, participated in the writing of the last track. The recording and mixing were made at the Victor studio, except for the song "Hélène" (at Intercession studio). The album debuted at #14 on 3 December 1989 on the SNEP Albums Chart and had a peak at number one for two weeks almost eleven months after. It totaled 40 weeks in the top ten and 113 weeks in the top 50. In 1991, the album achieved Diamond status for over one million copies sold. Roch Voisine
Joseph Armand Roch Voisine, (born 26 March 1963) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, actor, and radio and television host who lives in Montreal and Paris. He writes and performs material in both English and French. He won the Juno Award for Male Vocalist of the Year in 1994. In 1997, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. Beginnings Born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, he grew up in Saint-Basile, New Brunswick and later moved to Notre-Dame-du-Lac, Quebec when he was 12. Voisine studied at École technique des métiers de Lauzon in Lévis (today Guillaume-Couture Secondary School) and at Polyvalente de Lévis (today École Pointe-Lévy). Then he continued for 4 years at Cégep Limoilou. He attended the University of Ottawa where he graduated in 1985 with a degree in physiotherapy and played 4 seasons with the uOttawa Gee-Gees men's hockey team. ''Double'' is a 1990 bilingual French / English double album by Canadian singer Roch Voisine as a follow up to the album '' Hélène''. The first CD is all in French, the second all in English. The English tracks were also released as a separate album entitled ''Roch Voisine''. Album information The album was recorded in Canada and France, and was mixed in France. Famous singer-songwriter and guitarist Francis Cabrel participated in one of the tracks of the second album. In France, the album spawned three top three singles : "La berceuse du petit diable" (#3), "Darlin'" (#2), and later "La promesse" (#3) and "Avec tes yeux (Pretty Face)" (#3). The last two singles were released to support Voisine's live album ''Europe tour'', but originally appears on this album. "Hélène" is a 1989 pop song recorded by the Canadian singer Roch Voisine. Written and composed by Voisine and Stéphane Lessard with guitars played by Carl Katz and keyboards by Luc Gilbert, it was the first single from his first studio album '' Hélène'', and was released in November 1989. It is mainly a song in French-language, but contains a line in English as follows: "Hélène things you do / Make me crazy about you". The cover for the CD maxi used the same photograph as that of the album '' Hélène'' : Roch Voisine's face with a black background. "Hélène" achieved a great success in France where it topped the singles chart for nine weeks, thus allowing Voisine to launch his international career. It was released in March 1990 as the second single from his first studio album '' Hélène'', on which it appears as the third track. It became a top three hit in France. Versions "Pourtant" was performed during Voisine's 1992 tour and thus included on the live albums ''Europe Tour'' and '' Roch Voisine Live'', as well as on the compilation ''Best Of''. Music recording certification is a system of certifying that a music recording has shipped, sold, or streamed a certain number of units. The threshold quantity varies by type (such as album, single, music video) and by nation or territory (see List of music recording certifications).
