Håkon Storm-Mathisen
Håkon Storm (born Håkon Storm-Mathisen 13 March 1967 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (guitar), the son of professor of medicine Jon Storm-Mathisen (b. 1941), and known from his own band projects in addition playing within the "Prime Time Orchestra", and collaborations with Tore Brunborg, Finn Guttormsen, Jarle Vespestad, Jacob Young and Beate S. Lech. Career When graduating from the Music program at Foss videregående skole, Storm-Mathisen attended the band ''Mathisfantene'' in Oslo 1987, before he moved to Copenhagen for his formal education at the Rhythmic Conservatory, where he was supervised by Ole Kock-Hansen (The Danish Radio Jazz orchestra), Butch Lacy, Bob Rockwell, Atilla Engin, Ed Thigpen, Jørgen Emborg, Staffan William-Olsson, and others. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Torgrim Sollid
Torgrim Sollid (born 17 June 1942) is a Norwegian self-taught traditional folk musician, composer and jazz musician (trumpet, flugelhorn, and drums), known for combining folk music with jazz, and for playing in the Jan Garbarek Quartet and Warne Marsh Sextet. Career After growing up in Stor-Elvdal Sollid was drummer in "Veitvet Big Band" and "Jan Garbarek Quartet" (1962–63), prior to training in music therapy in Mo i Rana, where he also played with Guttorm Guttormsen Band. In Molde he played in Erling Aksdal Sextet, and the two then gave out the "mountain jazz" project ''Østerdalsmusikk'' (1974) with music by Ole Mørk Sandvik. In the same vein he started the big band Søyr (1976–) in Trondheim, which he has led since to a number of album releases. Curling Legs
__NOTOC__ Curling Legs Productions A/S (established 1992 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label with a catalogue encompassing all styles of jazz and improvised music. It was started by Knut Værnes and Morten Halle to release their own music. In 1994, Odin Records was licensed to Curling Legs from the Norwegian Jazz Forum, to continue the production of Norwegian jazz. In addition to Værnes and Halle, the third co-owner of Curling Legs is Helge Westbye, the director of the record label Grappa Music, and the label is part of FONO. The music is distributed through the company Musikkoperatørene. By the time of their fiftieth issue, on 3 May 1999, Curling Legs had won Spellemannprisen four times. Farmers Market (band)
Farmers Market is a Norwegian band founded in Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag, in 1991. They have released four studio albums. History The band started out as a free jazz quintet sprung out from the conservatory in Trondheim, but now incorporates a wide variety of genres, such as jazz, rock, pop music, bluegrass, classical and most significantly Bulgarian folk music. Humorous arrangements, virtuosity and odd time signatures are characteristic to their style. Multi-instrumentalist Stian Carstensen is a sort of front figure, though guitarist Nils-Olav Johansen performs most of the lead vocals. The band's original saxophonist Håvard Lund left the group in 1995, and they looked to Bulgaria for a replacement. Trifon Trifonov joined the band after auditioning by telephone. Jarle Vespestad
Jarle Vespestad (born 16 April 1966) is a Norwegian jazz musician (percussion), the younger brother of jazz musician Liz Tove Vespestad, and a central member of Tord Gustavsen's projects. Career Vespestad was born in Kirkenes and picked up drumming in the local marching band, but drumming first became serious after finishing high school, where he found himself heading into a future as a substitute teacher at his local high-school. He made up his mind and graduated from the Toneheim Folk High School (1988) and Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1990). Tore Brunborg (born 20 May 1960) is a Norwegian jazz musician and composer who plays saxophone. He was born in Trondheim but grew up in Voss where a jazz environment was flowering. Known from numerous appearances with international greats including Bugge Wesseltoft, Håvard Wiik, Audun Kleive, Anders Jormin, Diederik Wissels, Arild Andersen, Pat Metheny, Per Jørgensen, Geir Lysne, Misha Alperin, Bjørn Alterhaug, Jan Gunnar Hoff, Jarle Vespestad, Jon Christensen, Jon Balke, Nils Petter Molvær, Vigleik Storaas, Bo Stief, and Billy Cobham.
