Häringe Castle
Häringe Palace (''Häringe slott'') is a former manor house in Södermanland, Sweden. It is located about 35 km south of Stockholm and lies within the Häringe-Hammersta Nature Reserve. History The current main building was built on the initiative of Gustav Horn, Count of Pori (1592–1657) and was completed in 1657. After Gustaf Horn's death, the manor was inherited by their daughter Agneta Horn (1629–1672). Häringe was inherited by Agneta Horn's granddaughter Agneta Wrede in 1696 and in 1730 by her daughter Hedvig Catharina De la Gardie (1695–1745) wife of Magnus Julius De la Gardie. In 1745 it was acquired by their youngest son of Count Carl Julius De la Gardie (1729–1786). The property was purchased in 1769 by Major General Fabian Löwen (1699–1773). Haninge Municipality
Haninge Municipality () is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is located in Handen, a part of the Stockholm urban area. Haninge Municipality was formed in 1971 when ''Västerhaninge'' and ''Österhaninge'' were united. The municipal coat of arms depicts a capercaillie from which the name Haninge is believed to have been derived (the German word ''hahn'' means capercaillie), while the anchor symbolizes the naval base in the municipality. The German word usage is supposedly from the old German Hansa traders who operated in the area. Geography Haninge cherishes its nature, housing the southern parts of the scenic Stockholm archipelago. There are over 3,600 islands, islets and skerries belonging to the municipality, with the three largest islands being Utö, Ornö and Muskö. Södermanland ( ), locally Sörmland, sometimes referred to under its Latinized form Sudermannia or Sudermania, is a historical province (or ) on the south eastern coast of Sweden. It borders Östergötland, Närke, Västmanland and Uppland. It is also bounded by lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. Häringe-Hammersta Nature Reserve
Häringe-Hammersta Nature Reserve () is a nature reserve in Stockholm County in Sweden. The nature reserve consists of two peninsulas and several different kinds of landscape types. Häringe Castle is located within the nature reserve, as is Hammersta Manor and castle ruins. South of Häringe Castle, the landscape consists of open, arable land with interspersed groves dominated by maple, linden and sloan. Beneath the trees, flowers such as sweetscented bedstraw, spring vetchling, common toothwort and '' Viola mirabilis'' are known to grow. Further south the landscape changes into contiguous old coniferous forest. A small lake ( Lake Bobäcken) as well as the inlets of the sea provide important habitats for birds, who come here to rest during their annual spring migration. Gustav Horn, Count Of Pori
Count Gustav Horn (October 22, 1592 – May 10, 1657) was a Swedish nobleman of Finnish descent, military officer, and Governor-General. He was appointed member of the Royal Council in 1625, Field Marshal in 1628, Governor General of Livonia in 1652 and Lord High Constable since 1653. In the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), he was instrumental as a commander in securing victory at the Battle of Breitenfeld, in 1631. He was High Councillor of the realm in 1625, elevated to the rank of field marshal in 1628, and sometimes commander-in-chief of Swedish forces in Germany during Thirty Years' War. After the war, he served as Governor-General of Livonia 1652, President of War department and Lord High Constable in 1653. Magnus Julius De La Gardie
Magnus Julius De la Gardie (14 April 1668 – 28 April 1741), son of Axel Julius De la Gardie, was a Swedish general and statesman, member of the Swedish Hats Party. Magnus Julius De la Gardie was born in 1668 in Stockholm. He started his military career in the French army, where he fought for the French in the War of the Spanish Succession. After the Battle of Malplaquet in 1709, he became a Swedish Colonel at the Royal Dalarna Regiment, which he led in the Battle of Gadebusch in 1712. After the successful battle, he was appointed Swedish Major General, and in 1717 he became a Lieutenant General. After the dramatic death of King Charles XII in 1718, Magnus Julius De la Gardie became a member of the Privy Council of Sweden.
