Huron Wind
Huron Wind is the first commercial wind farm in Ontario. It is located in the village of Inverhuron, Ontario near Tiverton, and consists of 5 Vestas V80-1.8MW wind turbines. It is next to the Bruce Power Visitor Centre, within sight of the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station, and adjacent to the larger Enbridge Ontario Wind Farm. Groundbreaking was on July 11, 2002, and it was declared officially in service on December 1, 2002. The project is owned by a consortium of BPC Generation Infrastructure Trust, Cameco Corporation and TransCanada PipeLines Limited. Inverhuron, Ontario
Inverhuron is a community located in Bruce County within the Municipality of Kincardine in the Canadian province of Ontario. The community includes approximately 200 permanent residents and 400 seasonal cottagers. Inverhuron is located on the shore of Lake Huron, at the west end of County Road 15, just west of Highway 21 and the town of Tiverton. The village is located about halfway between Port Elgin and the town of Kincardine. History Inverhuron was first settled in the early 1840s. In 1851 Superintendent of Schools of Bruce County, William Gunn opened a general store and post office. Gunn quickly followed with a school and library. By the end of the decade Inverhuron boasted lime kilns, saw and grist mills, a quarry, numerous tradesmen including carpenters, and a blacksmith shop. Tiverton, Ontario
Tiverton is a community in the Municipality of Kincardine, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. It is near the shore of Lake Huron on Highway 21 between Port Elgin and Kincardine. History The name of a town in Devon, England. It is said that Norman McInnis and the other petitioners, when applying for a post-office, suggested the name "St. Andrews." This the Department would not agree to, there being another post-office of that name. Of several names offered "Tiverton" was chosen, it being the name of the borough for which Lord Palmerston, the English Prime Minister, sat in Parliament, and this no doubt had something to do with the choice made. Bruce Nuclear Generating Station is a nuclear power station located on the eastern shore of Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada. It occupies 932 ha (2300 acres) of land.
