Huracan (Belantis)
Huracan is a steel roller coaster at Belantis amusement park in Leipzig, Germany. Huracan is one of two Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter model roller coasters in Germany, the other being Fluch von Novgorod. History Huracan was originally intended to be delivered to the proposed F1-X Dubai amusement park in Dubai, but the Financial crisis of 2007–08 and the Great Recession led to the cancellation of the coaster's installation in Dubai. Instead, the coaster was acquired by Belantis amusement park for €5,000,000 and the coaster was opened on 26 June 2010. Nikolaus Job, the CEO of Belantis has stated he expected the installation of Huracan would lead to a 10 to 15 percent growth in visitor volume. The installation of Huracan has also led to other rides at Belantis being themed to match Huracan. Werner Stengel
Werner Stengel (born 22 August 1936, in Bochum) is a German roller coaster designer and engineer. Stengel is the founder of Stengel Engineering, also known as Ingenieurbüro Stengel GmbH (or Ingenieurbuero Stengel GmbH). Stengel first worked on amusement park rides in collaboration with Anton Schwarzkopf in 1963. He established his own company, Stengel Engineering, in 1965. His collaboration with Schwarzkopf was responsible for many innovations in roller coaster design, including in 1976 the first modern "vertical" looping coaster, ''Revolution'', at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter
The Euro-Fighter is a type of steel roller coaster developed by Gerstlauer. First launched in 2003, the trademark feature of the roller coaster is its beyond-vertical drop, which reaches an angle greater than 90 degrees. Although the majority of Euro-Fighters are custom designed for each installation, every design so far has included the trademark drop. A number of different track elements are possible, including Roller coaster elements#Vertical loop, vertical loops, Roller coaster elements#Dive loop, diving loops and barrel rolls. The Escape of Novgorod (german: Flucht von Novgorod), formerly Curse of Novgorod (), is a steel roller coaster at Hansa-Park, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany manufactured by Gerstlauer. Ride experience The train departs from the station, and travels through a small indoor dark ride section filled with special effects. The train then drops down a small dip which leads onto the launch track. The train is then accelerated to 100 km/h in 1.4 seconds, immediately into a hard banked turn to the right, curving upwards, and out of the building. The train passes a top-hat which provides a moment of airtime, before dropping back down. The train then travels through a large overbanked turn to the left and into a pretzel-turn. Following the pretzel-turn, the train travels through a heartline-roll and onto a brake run which slows the train to a halt before entering the show building once more. F1-X Dubai
F1-X Dubai was a proposed theme park dedicated to Formula One. It would have been the first official F1 theme park and was to be built by Union Properties close to the Dubai Autodrome as part of the MotorCity section of Dubailand. Union Properties obtained the exclusive rights to build such parks, budgeting $360 million for the Dubai site and originally having plans for sites also in Europe and the Far East. The amount that Union Properties borrowed for the whole project was around $1.6 billion. There were to have been three bespoke roller coasters on the site, intended to simulate the experience of driving an F1 car. The theme park area was designed to feel like an F1 paddock.
