Hur Jae
Hur Jae (born September 28, 1965) is a South Korean retired basketball coach and former player. His playing and coaching career combined spanned over three decades, beginning during the semi-professional era and coinciding with the establishment of the professional Korean Basketball League (KBL). As one of the most recognizable domestic sports stars of the late 1980s to early 2000s, Hur was nicknamed "The President of Korean Basketball" (Korean: 농구대통령) by Korean fans and the media. At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, he took the Athlete's Oath with handball player Son Mi-na. Hur is widely regarded as the greatest South Korean basketball player of all time, with his prime in the early to mid 1990s. Chuncheon
Chuncheon (; ; formerly romanized as Chunchŏn; literally ''spring river'') is the capital of Gangwon Province in South Korea. The city lies in the north of the county, located in a basin formed by the Soyang River and Han River. There are some large lakes around the city, most notably Soyang Lake and Uiam Lake (or Uiam Dam). The area is renowned for its small river islands, such as Sangjungdo, Ha-Jungdo, Bungeodo, and Wido. KBL Playoffs Most Valuable Player Award
The Korean Basketball League Playoffs Most Valuable Player Award (Playoffs MVP) (Korean: 플레이오프 MVP) is an annual Korean Basketball League (KBL) award given since 1997 to the best performing player of the playoffs. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top two ranked teams automatically qualify for the semifinals while the third to sixth-ranked teams qualify for the quarterfinals stage. The award specifically recognizes players for their performances during the playoffs, without taking into account of their record during the regular season. The awardee is selected by press vote. Hur Jae is the only player to have won the award as a member of the runner-up team. Future regular season MVPs Joo Hee-jung and Oh Se-keun both won the award during their rookie season. FIBA Asia Cup
The FIBA Asia Cup (formerly the FIBA Asia Championship and ABC Championship) is an international basketball tournament which takes place every four years between the men's national teams of Asia and Oceania. Through the 2015 edition, the tournament took place every two years and was also a qualifying tournament for the FIBA World Cup and the Olympic basketball tournament. However, since 2017, the tournament was renamed the FIBA Asia Cup and now includes teams from FIBA Oceania. Also, it was the first to be played on a new four-year cycle, and is no longer a part of the qualifying process for the World Cup or the Olympics.
