Hung Shing Temple, Tai Kok Tsui
The Hung Shing Temple, Tai Kok Tsui () or Hung Shing Temple, Fuk Tsun Street () is a Hung Shing Temple located at No. 58 Fuk Tsun Street (), in the Tai Kok Tsui area of Hong Kong. It is the only Hung Shing temple in urban Kowloon. History The temple was originally built in 1881 in the village of Fuk Tsun Heung ()Antiquities Advisory Board. At the time of the 1911 census, the population of Fuk Tsun Heung was 861, the number of males was 610. In 1928, the Government developed the area and the Village was cleared. In 1930, the temple was rebuilt at the present site, which was named after the Village, and it has since been managed by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, by delegation from the Chinese Temples Committee. Chinese Temples Committee
The Chinese Temples Committee () is a statutory body in Hong Kong established in 1928 under the Chinese Temples Ordinance () (Cap. 153). It is mainly responsible for the operation and management of twenty-four temples directly under its management. It also handles temple registration. There are 20 additional temples, of which management has been delegated to other organisations. Organisation The Committee is chaired by the Secretary for Home Affairs. It consists of eight persons, including the chairman of the board of directors of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and six persons appointed by the Secretary for Home Affairs through delegated authority by the Chief Executive. Tai Kok Tsui
Tai Kok Tsui is an area west of Mong Kok in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The mixed land use of industrial and residential is present in the old area. The Cosmopolitan Dock and oil depots were previously located there. Blocks of high-rise residential buildings have been erected on the reclaimed area to the west, which marked the revitalisation of the area with many restaurants and bars setting up shop. Many of the older residential buildings have been vacated and are set to be replaced by high-rise residential and commercial buildings. Demography Until recently, many of the residents in Tai Kok Tsui were senior citizens but there has been a more recent influx of younger people, especially those returning to Hong Kong after time spent overseas. Kowloon () is an urban area in Hong Kong comprising the Kowloon Peninsula and New Kowloon. Antiquities Advisory Board
The Antiquities Advisory Board (AAB) is a statutory body of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with the responsibility of advising the Antiquities Authority on any matters relating to antiquities and monuments. The AAB was established in 1976 along with the Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) when the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance (Cap. 53) was enacted, and comprises members appointed by the Chief Executive. The corresponding governmental ministry is the Development Bureau, and executive support for the AAB is provided by the AMO which is under the Development Bureau. Formation The Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance (Cap. 53) was passed in 1971. However, the Ordinance was not "give life" and the AAB was not constituted until February of 1977. Tung Wah Group Of Hospitals
The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (), with a history dating back to 1870, is the oldest and largest charitable organisation in Hong Kong. It provides extensive education and community services through 194 service centres spread across Hong Kong. Although Tung Wah Group of Hospitals is purely a charitable organisation today, it was originally an organisation that brought together the most influential Chinese magnates of Hong Kong in early colonial period.
