Hundred Of Condada
The Hundred of Condada is a Cadastral divisions of South Australia, cadastral unit of Hundred (country subdivision), hundred located on the northern Eyre Peninsula of South Australia spanning the township of Minnipa, South Australia, Minnipa and surrounds. One of the 24 hundreds of the County of Robinson, it was proclaimed in 1913 by Governor Day Bosanquet and named for Condada Hill, in the southwest of the hundred. The hundred is entirely spanned by the bounded locality of Minnipa, South Australia, Minnipa, along with the adjacent hundreds of Hundred of Pildappa, Pildappa to the east, Hundred of Carina, Carinato the south, and most of the Hundred of Minnipa to the southeast (in which the actual township of Minnipa lies). County Of Robinson
The County of Robinson is one of the 49 counties of South Australia. It was proclaimed in 1883 by Governor William Robinson who named it after himself. It lies on the north west coast of Eyre Peninsula stretching from Streaky Bay inland to include the Gawler Ranges Conservation Park at the southern cusp of the Gawler Ranges. Local government spanning the county includes the District Council of Streaky Bay and District Council of Elliston, both established in 1888, and the District Council of Wudinna, established in 1925. Lands Administrative Divisions Of South Australia
The lands administrative divisions of South Australia are the cadastral (i.e., comprehensively surveyed and mapped) units of counties and hundreds in South Australia. They are located only in the south-eastern part of the state, and do not cover the whole state. 49 counties have been proclaimed across the southern and southeastern areas of the state historically considered to be arable and thus in need of a cadastre. Within that area, a total of 540 hundreds have been proclaimed, although five were annulled in 1870, and, in some cases, the names reused elsewhere. All South Australian hundreds have unique names, making it unnecessary, when referring to a hundred, to also name its county (as is done in some land administration systems such as that of New South Wales). The District Council of Elliston is a local government area covering around 6500 km2 on the Western Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. Established in 1888, the district has a diverse economy, with agriculture, commercial fishing and tourism making up the majority of the local economy. History The council was established by the District Councils Act 1887 on 5 January 1888. The bounds were defined in the act as "Comprising the whole of the County of Musgrave, and portion of the County of Robinson south of a true east line from the most northern point of Venus Bay to the east boundary of the said county." Poochera, South Australia
Poochera is a small grain belt town 60 km north-west of Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. The township of Poochera was not surveyed until 1920, and its name is thought to be taken from the name of King Poojeri, a local aboriginal who died in 1917. A nearby hill is also named Poochera, possibly stemming from the same origin. The town had a school which opened in 1920, but closed its doors in 1976. Poochera is the centrepoint of a large agricultural area, the town itself being a strategic grain exchange point for the region's farmers, who specialise in cereal crops and sheep. The town is 53 km away from the Gawler Ranges, and is commonly used as a stop off by tourists, who have access to a hotel and caravan park. Inselberg
An inselberg or monadnock () is an isolated rock hill, knob, ridge, or small mountain that rises abruptly from a gently sloping or virtually level surrounding plain. In Southern Africa a similar formation of granite is known as a koppie, an Afrikaans word ("little head") from the Dutch diminutive word ''kopje''. If the inselberg is dome-shaped and formed from granite or gneiss, it can also be called a bornhardt, though not all bornhardts are inselbergs. Admiral Sir Day Hort Bosanquet, (22 March 1843 – 28 June 1923) was a British politician and senior officer in the Royal Navy. A hundred is an administrative division that is geographically part of a larger region.
