The Huis van Alijn (Dutch for: ''Alijn Hospital'', literally ''House of Alijn'') is a museum located on the Kraanlei in Ghent Ghent ( nl, Gent ; french: Gand ; traditional English: Gaunt) is a city and a municipality in the Flemish Region of Belgium. The collection revolves around local culture and daily life in the 20th century. History of the museum The origins of the House of Alijn lie in 1926. That is when the Royal Association of East Flemish Folklorists was founded. The association aimed to promote the study of popular life. It achieved this through, among other things, the publication of the folklore magazine Oost-Vlaamse Zanten, starting in 1927, and the establishment of a folklore library.
