Anne-Marie Huguenin (5 October 1875 – 21 October 1943), also known by her pen name Madeleine, was a Canadian writer, journalist and editor. She is considered one of the first women journalists in Canada.'''' She edited '' La Patrie'' for over 19 years, after which she founded ''La Revue moderne.'' Between 1987 and 1943, she "published more than 3000 columns and articles on all types of topics."'''' Personal life and education Huguenin was born 5 October 1875 in Rimouski, Québec to John Gleason and Eugénie Garon.'''' Gustav Huguenin
Gustav Huguenin (17 July 1840 – 6 February 1920) was a Swiss internist and pathologist who was a native of Krauchthal. Biography He studied medicine at the Universities of University of Zürich, Zürich, Charles University in Prague, Prague, University of Vienna, Vienna and Berlin, obtaining his medical doctorate in 1864. As a student he had as instructors: neurologist Wilhelm Griesinger (1817–1868), surgeon Theodor Billroth (1829–1894) and internist Michael Anton Biermer (1827–1892). In 1873 he succeeded Bernhard von Gudden (1824–1886) as director of the Burghölzli Psychiatric Hospital. From 1874 he served as director of the medical clinic in Zurich, offering his resignation in 1883 for health reasons. Afterwards, he practiced medicine in Zürich and Weissenburg. Huguenin specialized in research of brain disorders, brain and nervous diseases, nerve disorders. Marianne Huguenin (born 1 May 1950) is a former Swiss politician and member of the Swiss Party of Labour, who was elected to the Swiss National Council representing the Canton of Vaud from 2003 to 2007. A lesbian, she was the first openly gay politician in French-speaking Switzerland. Biography Originally trained as a medical doctor, she served as a deputy in the Grand Council of Vaud from 1990 to 1999 and was president of the Vaud Cantonal branch of the Swiss Party of Labour from 1988 to 1995. From 1996 to 2006 she served as a municipal councilor in the city of Renens, before becoming Syndic (mayor) of the city from 2006 to 2016.
