Hugh D. Crawford (born October 23, 1941) is a Republican politician from Michigan who served on the Oakland County, Michigan Board of Commissioners as the Commissioner for District 9 which includes the cities of Novi, Northville, and the Township of Novi. Crawford is a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives where he served for three terms. Craig M. DeRoche (born October 4, 1970) is a Republican Party politician who served as speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives for the U.S. state of Michigan. Before being elected to the House of Representatives, DeRoche was a member of the Novi City Council. DeRoche was first elected to the lower house of the Michigan Legislature to represent the 38th District in the general election on November 5, 2002. Novi ( ) is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the population was 66,243, an increase of 20% from the 2010 census. A northern suburb of Metro Detroit, Novi is located about northwest of the city of Detroit and about northeast of Ann Arbor. The city is located within the boundaries of the survey township of Novi Township, which now also includes portions of the cities of Northville and Walled Lake. The remaining unincorporated township is only a tiny fraction of surrounded by the city. History Novi was organized as a township in 1832, on land taken from Farmington Township.
