Hubert Cornfield
Hubert Cornfield (February 9, 1929 — June 18, 2006) was an American film director in Hollywood. He was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and died in Los Angeles. Billy Wilder, William Wyler and Joseph L. Mankiewicz all signed his Directors Guild of America (DGA) application. He moved to the US as a refugee in 1941. He received attention for a short film he made ''The Color is Red'' which attracted the interest of 20th Century Fox. He directed mainly crime films... from Film Noir to Neo Noir... and worked with legendary actors ranging from Marlon Brando to Sidney Poitier. Angel Baby (1961 Film)
''Angel Baby'' is a 1961 American drama film directed by Paul Wendkos and starring Salome Jens, George Hamilton and Mercedes McCambridge. It was Burt Reynolds' film debut. Wendkos called it "one of my favorite pictures, because I had a theme." The song "Jenny Angel," sung by George Hamilton, is played during the closing credits of the film. Plot In the rural American south, Angel Baby, who has been mute from age eight on, is caught kissing Hoke by her mother, who interrupts them and chases Hoke off. Worried about Angel's soul, they go to a tent revival where Paul is preaching. Paul heals her muteness, urging her on to say "God" at first, then "Lord God" and a prayer of thankfulness. Billy Wilder
Billy Wilder (; ; born Samuel Wilder; June 22, 1906 – March 27, 2002) was an Austrian-American filmmaker. His career in Hollywood spanned five decades, and he is regarded as one of the most brilliant and versatile filmmakers of Classic Hollywood cinema. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director eight times, winning twice, and for a screenplay Academy Award 13 times, winning three times. Wilder became a screenwriter while living in Berlin. The rise of the Nazi Party and antisemitism in Germany saw him move to Paris. He then moved to Hollywood in 1933, and had a major hit when he, Charles Brackett and Walter Reisch wrote the screenplay for the Academy Award-nominated film ''Ninotchka'' (1939).
