Hsu Yen-pu
Hsu Yen-pu (; born 1961) is a Republic of China Army general. Since 1 July 2021, he is the current Commander of the Republic of China Army. He also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Republic of China Armed Forces from 2020 to 2021. Career Hsu is of mixed Atayal and Han descent. He is the first commander of the army with aboriginal blood. In 1983, he graduated from the Artillery Division of the Republic of China Military Academy, and subsequently served in other miliary positions, including the commander of the No. 21 Artillery Command and commander of the of the Sixth Army Corps, Chief of Staff of the Tenth Army Corps, and Vice Minister of National Defense. In 2014, Hsu was promoted from major general to lieutenant general. On 1 April of that year, he became the Commander of the Sixth Army Corps following the retirement of . Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant.
