Hsu Wen-tsu
Hsu Wen-tsu (; born 30 September 1936) is a Taiwanese politician. Hsu Wen-tsu led the Kuomintang-affiliated Hsu family faction in Yunlin County. He served two terms as Yunlin County Magistrate from 1981 to 1989, before accepting an appointment to lead the Taiwan Provincial Government's Department of Reconstruction in 1990. Hsu was named secretary-general of the provincial government in 1994. He retired from politics in 2000, ending his career as one of President Lee Teng-hui's national policy advisers. Within the Kuomintang, Hsu had served as director of the Department of Organization. One of Hsu's sons, Hsu Shu-po, served on the Legislative Yuan. Kuomintang
The Kuomintang (KMT), also referred to as the Guomindang (GMD), the Nationalist Party of China (NPC) or the Chinese Nationalist Party (CNP), is a major political party in the Republic of China, initially on the Chinese mainland and in Taiwan after 1949. It was the sole party in China during the Republican Era from 1928 to 1949, when most of the Chinese mainland was under its control. The party retreated from the mainland to Taiwan on 7 December 1949, following its defeat in the Chinese Civil War. Chiang Kai-shek declared martial law and retained its authoritarian rule over Taiwan under the ''Dang Guo'' system until democratic reforms were enacted in the 1980s and full democratization in the 1990s. Yunlin County
Yunlin County (Mandarin pinyin: ''Yúnlín Xiàn''; Taigi POJ: ''Hûn-lîm-koān''; Hakka PFS: ''Yùn-lìm-yen'') is a county in western Taiwan. Yunlin County borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, Nantou County to the east, Changhua County to the north at the Zhuoshui River, and Chiayi County to the south at the Beigang River. Yunlin is part of the Chianan Plain, a flat land known for its agriculture. Agricultural products of Yunlin County include pomelo, tea leaves, suan cai, papaya and muskmelon. Yunlin's rivers give it potential for hydroelectricity. Douliu is the largest and capital city of Yunlin. It is the only county on the main island of Taiwan where no city with the same name exists. The Taiwan Provincial Government was the government that governed Taiwan Province of the Republic of China. Its functions have been transferred to the National Development Council and other ministries of the Executive Yuan. History At the end of World War II, Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945. Lee Teng-hui
Lee Teng-hui (; 15 January 192330 July 2020) was a Taiwanese statesman and economist who served as President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) under the 1947 Constitution and chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) from 1988 to 2000. He was the first president to be born in Taiwan, the last to be indirectly elected and the first to be directly elected. During his presidency, Lee oversaw the end of martial law and the full democratization of the ROC, advocated the Taiwanese localization movement, and led an ambitious foreign policy to gain allies around the world. Nicknamed "Mr. Democracy", Lee was credited as the president who completed Taiwan's transition to the democratic era. After leaving office, he remained active in Taiwanese politics. Legislative Yuan
The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for 4-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system. Originally located in Nanking, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house), formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. The Legislative Yuan previously had 759 members representing each constituencies of all provinces, municipalities, Tibet, Outer Mongolia and various professions. Hsu Shu-hsiang
Hsu Shu-hsiang (; born 22 April 1961) is a Taiwanese academic administrator and politician. Hsu Shu-hsiang is the elder son of Hsu Wen-tsu. His younger brother Hsu Shu-po has served on the Legislative Yuan. Hsu Shu-hsiang graduated from Soochow University with a degree in political science, and pursued graduate study in the same subject in the United States, earning a master's degree at Ohio State University and a doctorate at Colorado State University. TransWorld University (TWU; ) is a private university in Douliu City, Yunlin County, Taiwan. History TWU was founded in 1992 as Transworld Junior College of Commerce. In 2000, it was upgraded to Transworld Institute of Technology. Finally on 1 August 2010, the institute was approved to be the TransWorld University.
