Hrant Vardanyan
Hrant Vardanyan ( hy, Հրանտ Վարդանյան, January 23, 1949 – April 20, 2014) was an Armenian businessman, the founder CEO of Grand Holding, and philanthropist. Honored Worker of Economy of the Republic of Armenia (2009). Biography Hrant Vardanyan was born on 23 January 1949, in Yerevan, Armenia into a working-class family. From 1956 to 1966 he studied at the Kirov secondary school No. 12 in Yerevan, Armenia. From 1968 to 1974 he studied at the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Machine Building and Mechanical Engineering, majoring in food-industry engineering. Since 1990 - Candidate of Economics. Non-party. The Yerevan Zoo, also known as the Zoological Garden of Yerevan ( hy, Երևանի կենդաբանական այգի (''Yerevani kendabanakan aygi'')), is a zoo established in 1940 in Yerevan, Armenia. The Armenian genocide was the systematic destruction of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, Armenian people and identity in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. Western Armenia (Western Armenian: Արեւմտեան Հայաստան, ''Arevmdian Hayasdan'') is a term to refer to the eastern parts of Turkey (formerly the Ottoman Empire) that are part of the historical homeland of the Armenians. Western Armenia, also referred to as Byzantine Armenia, emerged following the division of Greater Armenia between the Byzantine Empire (Western Armenia) and Sassanid Persia (Eastern Armenia) in 387 AD. Masis, Armenia
Masis ( hy, Մասիս) is a town and urban municipal community in the Ararat Province of Armenia, located on the left bank of the Hrazdan River, 9 km southwest of Yerevan towards Mount Ararat. The town has a large railroad commodity station that serves Yerevan, and used to connect the capital city with the Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic until the closing of the border with Azerbaijan. Masis is one of the closest settlements to Mount Ararat and Little Ararat. The mountains are visible from most of the areas in the town. As of the 2011 census, the population of the town was 20,215. Saint Thaddeus Church, Masis
The Saint Thaddeus Church ( hy, Սուրբ Թադեոս Եկեղեցի), is an Armenian Apostolic church in the town of Masis, Ararat Province, Armenia. History The construction site of the Church was chosen by Vazgen I, the Catholicos of All Armenians, in 1991 and the ground blessing service was conducted in the same year. The construction started in 2003 by the initiative and funding of benefactor Hrant Vardanyan. In 2015, the construction of the Church was completed by his sons, Mikayel and Karen Vardanyans. The Church, built with the blessing of Vazgen I, the Catholicos of All Armenians, was named after the Apostle St. Thaddeus.
