Hoxton Story
{{italic title ''Hoxton Story'' is an epic and poetic multi-plot fable marking the 10th anniversary of the multi-award-winning theatre company The Red Room. Inspiration Hoxton, England, became notable in the 1990s as a groovy district of loft apartments and the stomping ground for artists that came to be collectively known as the yba's – Young British Artists. The area also needed urban regeneration, and the government promised an influx of funding to improve housing and social amenities. Artistic Director Lisa Goldman and her team spent periods between 2004 and 2005 interviewing residents of Hoxton housing estates to find out just what has changed for them. Hoxton Story Promo
Hoxton is an area in the London Borough of Hackney, England. As a part of Shoreditch, it is often considered to be part of the East End – the historic core of wider East London. It was historically in the county of Middlesex until 1889. It lies immediately north of the City of London financial district, and was once part of the civil parish and subsequent Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch, prior to its incorporation into the London Borough of Hackney. The area is generally considered to be bordered by Regent's Canal on the north side, Wharf Road and City Road to the west, Old Street to the south, and Kingsland Road to the east. Jon Bausor
Jon Bausor is an international stage and costume designer for Theatre, Dance and Opera. Based in London, he is an associate artist of the Royal Shakespeare Company and designed the opening ceremony of the 2012 Paralympic Games. Education Bausor (rhymes with "Chaucer") studied cello and voice at the Royal Academy of Music whilst attending Warwick School as a choral scholar. Whilst still at school he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company to play Lucius, in Steven Pimlott's production of ''Julius Caesar'' starring Robert Stephens. Squatters
Squatting is the action of occupying an abandoned or unoccupied area of land or a building, usually residential, that the squatter does not own, rent or otherwise have lawful permission to use. The United Nations estimated in 2003 that there were one billion slum residents and squatters globally. Squatting occurs worldwide and tends to occur when people who are poor and homeless find empty buildings or land to occupy for housing. It has a long history, broken down by country below. Hoxton Hall
Hoxton Hall is a performance arts theatre and community centre in the Hoxton area of Shoreditch, at 130 Hoxton Street, in the London Borough of Hackney. A grade II* listed building, the theatre was first built as a Music hall in 1863, as MacDonald's Music hall. It is an unrestored example of the saloon-style. In the theatre, an iron-railed, two tier galleried auditorium rises on three sides, supported on cast iron columns, above a small, high, multi-tiered stage. It survives, largely in its original form, as for many years it was used as a Quaker meeting house. The music hall lost its performance licence in 1871, due to complaints by the police; it was sold, and the new owners applied for a licence in 1876, but were again rejected. William Isaac Palmer (1824–1893) purchased it on behalf of the Blue Ribbon Gospel Temperance Mission in 1879. Tam Dean Burn (born 1958 in Leith, Scotland) is a Scottish actor who has played a wide range of roles on stage and screen.
